Not necessarily it's because those guys are coupled with

Devin Harris(young dynamic point guard who plays defense)
Sean Williams(very well could be a defensive force to reckoned with and a Top Flight open court player)
Marcus Camby(NUFF CED!)

Do we have similar caliber pieces here or are rumored to be trading for?

Camby, Carmelo and Lebron on the Brooklyn Nets? Crazzyyyyyy.

how is Lebron going to sign w/the Nets when they'll have both Vince & Melo's max contracts on their books the year he turns FA? not to mention they'll have to extend Camby after his contract expires... ain't happening.

let the Nets have him... i would love to see Melo on the Nets & Lebron on the Knicks.

i would somewhat assume that if that is the plan, then the nets can use vince's expiring deal (among other things) to get lebron in a forced s&t.

Because Carter has a TO in 2011-2012 which means he's an expiring in 2010-2011 and obviously they'll let Camby ride out into the sunset after 2009/2010.

DJ beatme to it nice work Kid

All I know that team would be frustrating to play against might be worth it for them to do but I don't know if I'd pull the trigger. Camby is what's appealing in the short term.

right, if they're obviously going to use Vince's expiring to land Lebron & let Camby ride into the sunset then a lineup of Camby, Melo & Lebron ain't happening.

Not thatimpressed. Just looks like they're positioning themselves to become: 'Denver Nuggets East, the Jersey edition.'

They'll be fun and intriguing tho, its just that I have my doubts about a Melo/Wince tagteam. I'll let you cats continue salivating...

That's not how I look at their angle. They won't extend Camby and they'll trade Vince either at the deadline of the 2009/2010 season or during the summer of 2010 and not necessarily to Cleveland. I think their approach would be to have cap space to sign Lebron out right to pair with Melo, both dynamic duos at the age of 26 entering their primes.

if ron artest opts out he should sign in cleveland for the MLE for 6 years...they need to do something to keep lebron around. if ron ron can keep his head on straight, those 2 would be a nice duo, and hed fit in well with that defensive minded team

SF is the ONLY position Cleveland does *not* need.

you can put lebron at the 2 and artest at the 3. i mean lebron basically plays the point anyway, so i don't think they get in each other's way. what it gives cleveland is a) a legit #2 option that can put up 30 on a given night, b)a good shooter for lebron to hit when he gets doubled c) probably most importantly, a guy who can shut down the opposing team's swingman, which allows lebron to focus more on offense. lebron wouldve taken over against the celtics if he didnt have to work so hard guarding pierce. imagine artest on pierce, lebron on ray allen? lebron mightve gone for 60...no team will be able to match up with those guys at the 2/3, and they wouldn't have any problems guarding opponents because of their athleticism and how good of a defender artest is

artest has clashed with point guards and coaches in both Indy and Sac because he believes the offense should run thru him

am i speaking sign language here? i was responding to the hypothetical scenario presented above... if the Nets wouldn't extend Camby then in essence you're basically agreeing w/me here.

The Memphis Grizzlies apparently offered Mike Miller to Portland for Travis Outlaw and the No. 13. Excuse me? As expected, Kevin Pritchard and the Blazers respectfully declined the offer. It's going to take a little bit more than an aging shooter to pry away one of the Blazers' most improving players and a lottery pick. The trade would have to involve some more filler from Memphis (not sure if Miller's pet monkey would be involved) to make the deal work. Outlaw should be flattered. The Griz must have liked what they saw when Outlaw delivered a dagger in the form of an off-the-glass game winner in Memphis early last season.
