I'd say there's a distinct possibility Steph is here next year. I think there's certainly a very good chance that he gets bought out or gets traded for a contract with one extra year on it.

I agree with this for the most part but the only way he gets traded is if he proves he can still play at a respectable level. No one touches a $20+mil player who's damaged goods. He has to show he's recovered from ankle surgery, which I'm sure he will, although if he doesn't get in the best shape of his life he'll be no better than he was when LB was here.

Marbury can definitely play. He didn't get that max contract by fooling anybody. I'm sure he'll recover from his surgery and whatever.

But even though he can play, he doesn't have exactly what this team needs. Leadership, responsibility, accountability, and chemistry.

That's why he shouldn't get more than 20 min a game this year - if he stays. We're not building around Marbury anymore so we should just play him like a guy who has 1 more year left on his contract and who we have absolutely no interest in re-signing. That means limited minutes.

Doesn't matter how crappy he plays. Teams will take him b/c that's a 20 million dollar expiring contract. If Walsh trades that for a bad contract that's not gonna help much, Isiah is still in charge.

Not without unloading a ton of crap. Look at how many expirings weren't traded for this past season. It's not a given.

That's what I'm saying though. We'd have to take a ton of crap in order to trade Marbury this season. Afterall, that's why teams will be willing to take Marbury this year. To unload their crap.

I keep Marbury for the season and remove Jamal Crawford, he is not an efficient player he has a little bit of value to a contending team looking for some offense off the bench. I really think a team like Dallas would be a nice fit for him they need a little more offense, LAC, Toronto, and a few others might be interested

I'm saying they definitely aren't going to take him if he's damaged goods because then it's like throwing money away during the yr where you may be forced into a buyout.

Marbury's status will depend on the draft. If we draft Rose or Bayless as our future PG, then I think they will trade Marbury for whatever decent deal they can get that does not require them to take on a contract that lasts longer than 2010. If we don't get a pg in the draft, we will probably keep Marbury and use the season to try and locate our future pg. I don't think there is anyway Marbury last more than one more season here though.

Oh, my bad. In that case, can we trade him further away?

The Marsianian Bbal league is thinking about it after passing on Cassel.
Sam was looking more like Alfa-Centaurian and Steph looks (and acts) more like Marsianian...

Marsbury?

Quote from Marbury: Marbury told the New York Post that he called D'Antoni to welcome him to the Knicks.

"We went with experience," Marbury told The Post. "It's a great move. We had a great relationship. I never had a problem with Mike D'Antoni. He said we have our work cut out for us and he's right. But I'm looking forward to running up and down the floor."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Is steph just kissing up to the new coach , or will he play basketball like he used to before coming to the knicks ?

playa, believe it or not, star is right on the money with that statement

of all the players trying to buy into mike's system starbury should have no problem (unless nate tries to steal the show) if you remember starbury when first traded to ny, steph was a half a court ahead of everybody else. starbury has actually slowed down throughout the years due to inept coaching.

"Like they always say, New York is the Mecca of basketball,"I read that in Michael Jordan books my whole life and I played here in the Big East tournament, so it's always fun to play in the Mecca of basketball."---Rip Hamilton

I thought he'd slowed down because of ankle injuries, the shoddy shoes he was wearing and the fact that he rarely trained in the off season anymore? Oh, and the fact that he's 31 now instead of the 27 he was when he got here.

Marbury is a cancer and should be cut. The team needs a fresh start.
