Knicks should pounce on whoever blows them away first. If Orlando goes to the finals that means the Knicks would be in limbo this whole time. No way......If Kenny sits down with Donnie and Donnie says, "ok this is the guy"....then bam.....time to focus on the next move.

Bottom line is the Knicks simply can't worry about sentiment. I got a feeling Donnie will get it right and we will be excited about our team again.

Its absurd to get on Kerr, because the Suns gave away the first game of the series that they didn't win.

Was it's Pops fault when Fisher hit a shot with 0.4 left. Sam Mitchels fault that Bosh missed an open jumper. Sprewell and Camby would have been moved had Houstons shot had not gone in. It's very easy to dismiss a move.

Shaq is averagine 15.8pts 9.3rbs 2.5 blks, he was brought in for a little inside defense and to elevate Amare.

The Mavs should havd kept harris and moved josh howard instead of trading kidd that is a fair estimate, because the west is getting younger and more talented.

And Kerr didn't give away Kurt Thomas someone serviceable and give another pick away. The Suns front office got lucky Isiah is an idiot and blew a chance to sign johnson for peanuts.

It would be a tremendous mistake to even think about smith

MS - nobody was dissin Kerr. Its just Kerr had no experience that's why he was brought up. If Kerr can be hired as a teams GM out of nowhere then why not Kenny Smith or whoever?

The comment I made about trading Shaq was that Kerr came in and Kaboom....he trades Marion for Shaq. The **** takes no skill. Just creativity, a plan and a little luck.

Look at Mark Cubans Mavs.....who is their GM? An idiot if he allowed that Kidd trade to happen.......so all WE can ask for is a dude or dudette that's impressive enough to Donnie. There you go.

I just don't think Smith has the mind or the work ethic to really focus on the job.

Why do you say that? The guy has just been a tv analyst so far. He's been insightful, intelligent, and quick on his feet no matter who is next to him. I tend to like the guy and agree with just about everything he says.

Now work ethic? When has Kenny Smith ever been questioned about work ethic? Again he's just a tv guy at this time. Does Steve Kerr have a better work ethic than kenny Smith.

Explain, explain, explain.....

Why dont we inbterview Ernie Johnson and Charles Barkley also? Why would you bring in someone with no experience to clean up this mess. If you had the most complicated heart surgery would you have a first time surgeon do it? This mess needs to be cleaned about by a coach that has a track record.

I would hire Briggs or DJ right now to be the GM........I keep bringing up Steve Kerr, why cuz he was a yahoo reporter and a analyst. No experience. It doesn't take a rocket scientist or a heart surgeon to be a GM. That's proven with all the retards out there all over the sports world.

Why not make Patrick Ewing the GM of the Knicks he is respected . Kenny Smith what has he done to deserve a shot at being the GM of the Knicks. I think this is just the Media at work coming up with candidates. Walsh is proving to be a very hesitant man with his decision making. I guess its better than making dicisions without thinking. Like giving Isiah a contract beofore the season ended. I think the Knicks would d well with Ewing as GM and Tom Thibodeau as the coach. I really don't want anything to do with Mark Jackson, Chuck Person or Kenny Smith. I'm no fan of locals running the Knicks.

Tom Thibodeau would be the ideal choice for coach and Ewing is well respect with his peers and would be able to get deals done for the Knicks.

No offense but what has Patrick Ewing done to be a GM of the most messed up team in the league. What is the big deal in bringing back a player that never won anything. How about bring Reggie Miller in to be the coach?

So your against Kenny Smith because he has no experience yet your also against Ewing who has been paying his dues the right way.

Please explain ....

I think this place is so messed up, you cant let a new coach cut his teeth with it. We need a Riley, Phil Jackson, Red Auerbach, we need someone that has built a team and has won before.

Maybe we can get Erie Johnson as assistant and Charles Barkley as head coach as well.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

Byron Scott just won coach of the year. He's a former player with minimal experience as an assistant in NJ and he's done well in New Orleans.

Ironically, another guy Walsh liked (and signed as a player). I'll trust Walsh's judgement on Mark Jackson and Kenny Smith.

donnie walsh is the face - so whoever comes in has him as a shield, plus people will grant the new guy at least a year or two of slack after the breath of fresh air from isiah leaving.

and, hey, we might get derrick rose.

Why is it absurd? The Suns sunk like a rock as soon as they got Shaq. Think they would rather play the Rockets instead of Sa Antonio?

This was a dangerous trade on paper, they closed their window considerably with the deal, off jump, by adding age and money.

I dont get all the conclusion jumping when it comes to the Jet. Here's a guy that was a heralded NYC prospect, but switched his style up to compliment a championship winning team. Very heady ballplayer, and he's a good analyst. Might not be a bomb throwing renegade, but he's damn sure not a punk. Why dismiss him so effortlessly? Especially in the face of Kerr?

How can you suggest Ewing for the GM job, he was one of the most selfish, stubborn players for years. He was a great Knick everyone loves him, but that doesn't qualify him. He was a disaster as president of the players union, and is not a good communicator. That's why you can't consider Herb. This is the new york knicks, not an nbdlteam. Just because management has been a joke the past six years doesn't mean we should just hand the position to a legend, or some guy that works on inside the nba.

If you think Kenny does a good job calling games, i don't know what to say he always makes generalizations that are usually not true beccause he doesn't do his homework. And considering the Knicks aren't on any tv schedule it makes sense that he is usually misinformed. You don't need someone like that as a gm. Ewing as an assistant is fine, hire Jackson to coach, tom t as the head assistant and go from there.

i don't think how a player performed on the court has anything to do with his ability to be a general manager.
