He's been sentenced to 3 years--what he will actually do is a different ball game.


If Martha Stewart can go to jail for simply dumping a small holding of stock--anyone can go to jail. They don't care if Snipes is black or white--they will always try to make examples out of stars--especially on something like this--he blantantly violated the law--is he above the law? Maybe in his own mind he was.

The notion that it baffles you doesn't surprise me in the least. Heres something to help you understand, you operate from the default position that the courts are just and fair towards everyone, most black people I know operate from the default position that being black in court is a factor that works against you.

Again, you feel the courts are unfair. I feel that if the courts are unfair, they are generally unfair equally. I think that individuals are sometimes racist, particularly in some areas of the country, and sometimes these individuals are unfortunately put on the jury. However, I also feel that the number of individuals that would let this get in the way during a court decision are in the minority.

This black view has been an accurate account of history in this country, unless you think for the couple of hundred years we've been here, we've been getting justice from the court system.

I don't see the relevance of the past couple of hundred years in this discussion. We're talking today. We all know that things in the past were very f'd up.

I didn't say that it isn't necessarily a factor. I simply said that I wouldn't assume it was a factor in all circumstances. The fact that you assume that it is says much more about you than it does about me.

Honestly, the reason why it's overrated as a factor is because, frankly, most people don't care -- there's much more to worry about the world than holding down people of a different race. It's incredibly presumptuous to assume that every decision that you don't like in the world is racially motivated.
