Chris Paul was is and always has been the MVP of the 2008-2009 season.

whatever happened to Baron Davis & T-Mac? you were riding both those guys' coattails pretty hard during the regular season.

LOL I never had those guys winning it outright I had them in the running(discussion so to speak) at certain points during the season just like people had Dwight Howard, who has no shot at winning at this point. When we were discussing candidates around the time the Rockets were on their winning streak I had my rankings as follows.

1. Paul
2. Lebron
3. K.G.
4. Kobe & T-Mac

If you want me to pull up the thread to embarrass you I will.

go ahead & pull up the thread... it doesn't change the fact that u were riding their coattails pretty hard during the season & you damn sure were... now it's "Chris Paul is, was & always will be the MVP of this season" as if you'd been calling it all year long & no one else was even close... u really think i'm outta line on this? i don't think i am... i'm not even trying to raise an argument with you but as usual u get overly defensive & try to find one... u were very high on Baron Davis & T-Mac over stretches of the season but I don't seem to be hearing you singing their praises much right now... why the sudden change?

He never said they were MVPs. He just said that T-Mac was substantially better than Jamal and that no one would take on extra salary just to get Jamal to replace T-Mac (your proposal).

Bonn, if u don't know what you're even talking about please stay out of the discussion... the MVP label was thrown around in relation to both players by your best friend here... stop trying to bring up completely unrelated discussions into this debate (an unrelated debate that you're also not even accurately relaying for that matter).

The reason why there's been such a heated argument between advocates of Paul and Bryant is that they are both worthy. I'd give Paul the nod, but it's close.

I think Lebron is gonna win it. Lebrons team is **** without Lebron. Plus Lebron is still the chosen one......

Chris paul is still an awesome player.....if he wins I would be fine with it.

Kobe shouldn't even be considered. Kobe has tons of help this year.

Stephon Marbury for MVP!

Oh wait, MVP doesn't stand for Most Vile Person. Nevermind.

More seriously, I'd give the edge to Kobe, most likely, with LeBron and Paul probably tied for second. At the end of the day it comes down to wins and losses, and Kobe completely carried his team this year.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Dont disagree with this premise but Nash had no business winning the MVP that second year.

The NBA has an Image to keep up.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

David West made himself into an all-star. Coaches voted him in, not the fans...

Nash had record breaking numbers the 2nd year he won it and they won 55 games without Amare (and advanced to the WCF's), which is something most critics of his first MVP award said he couldn't do.

you're taking the race truck out of the wrong door here brother

Chris Paul almost did what no player has ever done in NBA HISTORY and that's average 20/ppg 10ast/ppg and 3stl/gm.

So Chris Paul almost did what no other player in NBA history has done?

So I guesst Chris Paul also did not do what no other player has done?

In other words, Paul didn't do it either.

What a meaningless statement. Some things never change.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

Actually, the second MVP was the one he really deserved. His first MVP should have been Duncan's MVP, and there were a couple of other candidates who were more deserving as well.

TMS, plase get your terminology correct. The proper term for what "Trueblue" was doing is "nuthugging".

So previously he was "nuthugging" or "nutriding" if you prefer, Davis and T-Mac, but as soon as the wind shifted slightly, he is "nuthugging" Chris Paul.

So to be fair to "Trueblue", he is consistent. Consistently hugging nuts.

Sure, let's rob Kobe from the cards he was dealt. Matter of fact, let's strip Jordan of the 5 MVPs he received, simply because he had too much help from Pippen, Grant, and Kerr. That's a bunch of BS you're spitting. If you think Lebron is going to win it, you need to reconsider the definition of "valuable". The Cavs finished 4th in a terrible East, theres no excuse for that if you have someone like Lebron on your team.

Kobe has done a great job this year and I'd say he is the man now.

I feel Paul has done more. The Lakers were playing well before Bynum went down, when he did they sputtered a tad and immediately they made a trade for Gasol. This is when really took off. So Kobe's efforts should be looked at objectively.

I'd go

1. Paul
2. K.G.
3. Lebron
4. Kobe/T-Mac(he's rising rapidly)

The only thing I was slightly off on is K.G.'s and Lebrons' position. I thought a month ago I had Lebron #2 and K.G. #3 no major error here, they easily could swap places. Everything else I stated was on point.

I still feel the same about those players as I stated in this thread in which I guess this is where you're still bitter over.

He missed it by .3stl/gm go ahead and cheer over the technicality because it had been stated several times by people making cases for him Hubie Brown, Mike Breen, Mark Jackson, JVG all pointing to this near accomplishment.

Not to take away from Chris Paul's accomplishments. If he were to win it I wouldn't be mad at all because he deserves it as well.

But Paul had West, Peja, & Chandler for most of the season and didn't have to worry about any serious injuries to that core. Kobe only had Lamar Odom for most of the season. Gasol & Bynum *combined* didn't plays as many games as West, Peja, or Chandler each had.

Even though Paul leading the Hornets to the 2nd best record in the West definatly makes Paul worthy of the MVP. Lakers had no business winning out the West with all the injuries that they went through and how tough the west was this yr. They won out the West in the toughest yr the west ever had while dealing with 2 key injuries to core players. Thats impressive.

They also played head to head in one of the final games of the season and the Lakers beat the Hornets to take first place from them. That I guess could be the deciding vote.

If Steve Nash was the MVP 2 years in a row then Chris Paul has to be the MVP
