What you do is you bide your time. Wait till the dude is going hard to the basket, then trip his ass. When he goes down, you start kicking him viciously as he curls up into the fetal position. "Don't you EVER put your HANDS in MY FACE!!! YOU HEAR ME BITCH!?!"

Yes, because they might get him later in the shower, or out in the yard. He's got to show he ain't no punk.

Dirk should get him a spoon, sharpen that sucker up and shiv that dude. Leave him bleeding from the stomach on the ground out in the parking lot. That'll teach him.

Alternatives Dirk might consider for next time:

1)Turn the other cheek

2)Open wide and bring a Gerber pacifier

3)Shave so its as good for David as it is for Dirk

4)Bend over
Sh-t in the popcorn to go with sh-t on the court. Its a theme show like Medieval times.

I would not like it at all, and amare is my favorite player. I didn't like it when starks lost his cool andhead butted reggie miller, and i hated JR reid for intentionally elbowing AC green in the mouth knocking out a tooth.... I think you have to keep your cool..

Having seen the clip now, this is what I think.

West had his finger out and Dirk walked right up to his face - he was not intimidated by West. West's two taps to the cheek took all of 1 second and 2 refs immediately came between them. There really wasn't time for Dirk to react, without mauling a ref. Had the refs not jumped in we don't know where it would have gone.

I think, in this instance, Dirk's passiveness is being overstated.

I totally agree Blue. I think Dirk's non-reaction is fine. The NBA suspends players for just about anything these days, there's no reason to risk getting suspended now. The best way for Dirk to react is to put up 40 the next game, all right in West's face.

By the way, I like the tactic by West, reminds me of the old Knicks. Sure it's a little dirty, but you know what, this is the playoffs and you do whatever you can to win.

if dirk throws a punch and gets suspended 2 games, and the hornets go up 3-0, we'd be talking about how dirk is a mental midget and cost his team the series by losing his cool. i think dirk was just caught off guard about how softly david west tapped him on the jaw and didn't realize what was going on. probably for the best for the mavs in the long run

If you look at the beginning of the clip you see that Dirk turns around to get a refs attention, then walks into Wests finger. He was essentially baiting West into doing something stupid while a ref is watching, thus earning West a suspension. Kinda crafty actually.

Dirk is German... and they are much cooler that guys of West type.
You need to work hard to make German man lose his cool.
But if you do - he can kill you without shade of regret and much emotion.
Also as any northern white man he thinks first and then does things.
So the assumption that he wanted to set West up is very likely.
It's all cultural stuff.
