I seriously doubt Isiah will have any role with the team. He will have one job and thats it, stay home and wait for the mailman on the 1st and 15th of every month. This way Isiah saves what little he has left of his reputation by not being fired, and Dolan doesn't have to feel bad for firing his "partner." And you Zeke lovers don't feel bad for Isiah, it's basically what he's been doing for the last four and half years anyway...collecting paychecks.

Just to clarify things, I don't defend the decision to keep him on, I just don't think its a big deal just yet. Give it time, he might just "leave to persue an opportunity outside of basketball"

The thing is, we're all hoping that Isiah's role has been sufficiently diminished and trying to be optimistic in spite of Walsh's decision, whereas if he were just fired it would be over, really and truly, and we wouldn't have to go through mental gymnastics to feel safe.

I wanted to be done with "lets wait and see" - that's what the last two years have been about and they've been unbearable. unbearable. Walsh blew a prime opportunity to put the sordid past behind us and he choked.

Now whenever I think of Walsh I imagine him walking the halls of MSG with dog poop and spent condoms hanging off his shoe. It just stinks.

I understand what you're saying. It's different for me though. I don't think a person like Donnie Walsh would agree to be a puppet to Dolan. Walsh said when he was first hired that the fan's reaction to Isiah staying on in some capacity wouldn't effect his decision to let Isiah do so or not. I don't think he blatantly lied to us when he categorically denied that Dolan had anything to do with this decision. In my mind, the odds that Isiah still has any sort of power in the organization, despite what Walsh and Dolan say, is very very low at this point. I believe that if Isiah, from a business, and strategic standpoint, shouldn't be involved with the organization for some reason than Walsh will make that happen. Right now, I think Walsh just feels otherwise.

I think Donnie did it a very honorable way, even saying that he'll listen to Isiah's input. It makes sense to me. If anything Isiah is the one with dog poop and the condoms for last coupla years at least. And DW couldn't bring himself to fire Isiah at this point. His b-ball career would be over in a very embarrassing way. While that would be fine with me, i applaud Donnie for not driving a stake through Isiah's heart. Its something i haven't seen happen in this organization ever since we traded Ewing. Treating people with dignity and respect, wow what a concept.

Isiah's brought nothing but embarrassment and shame to this organization. Perpetuating his presence does nothing good for for the Knicks' tarnished image.

If letting horrible coaches and GMs hang on is evidence of Walsh's dignity, how come he didn't do the same for failed coaches in Indiana... Isiah included?

Well i have no reason not to believe his intentions so i am just trying to piece it together from what he said. I mean of course there is the whole Dolan+Isiah connection and there is all that money we still have to pay him but, for now, i'll just go with what he says his reasons are.

And yeah he did fire Isiah but something tells me Bird had more to do with that and Donnie was just letting Larry do it i guess maybe so that Larry Bird would feel like he really does have power to make decisions, he was grooming him to be his successor afterall.

Walsh was the head of the Paces for decades. If reassigning franchise wreckers within the organization was part of his M.O. he wouldn't have the quality reputation he enjoys.

Ridding this franchise of Isiah is what was needed. Playing this shell game ("who can tell me which shell Isiah is under") and calling it "dignified" is a farce.

TKF aka "Crawful lover," it's time you changed that sig of yours. I'll sit around day and night waiting to hit the NBA lottery. Sure beats watching crappy basketball at MSG. That to me is the definition of a loser. All those clowns who bought tickets to Knicks games this summer believing we actually were a good team. Losers! (long time season holders you get somewhat of a pass, although, I must question your sanity too. Dolan's been here for a while now)

LOL.. it is time for a sig update, but you know what the sig really means.... It has nothing to do with just "sitting" LOL.

And I rather be a crawful lover than a felton lover.. LOL..
Anyone who sits around and waits for the lottery to better themselves, either in real life or in sports, Is a Loser............... TKF

At least Felton doesn't have a contract that would choke an elephant. Da fuk does Crawful do that is that much better than Felton? For all of Felts inconsistencies, he still led the crappy Bobkittens to 32 wins. Yep, that would be 9 more than than Crawful's Pricks.

LOL, that sig was always a joke. I think your original post on it said it all. The real losers were the people who believed in Isiah Thomas all long.

I don't think it was a joke. When TKF put that sig up, he was still believing we could be a playoff team. And he was still doing backflips and cartwheels over the Knicks as recently as the first week of this season before the inevitable implosion. Remember, there was a time when the majority of Knicks fans thought it was blasphemy to root for them to lose. Of course, us fans with a clue, were practically rooting for the Knicks to lose since the day Isiah traded for Stephon Marbury.

No, I meant it was a joke as in it was a disgrace. It was not to be taken seriously by others but I know the owner of the sig was serious about his thoughts.

Nobody outside of this club can accurately know what is going on and to what extend isiah has been stripped of.

But the fact is, he's still here and that's just it! Nobody knows. But what we do know is, is what 'Walsh' said with his own tongue. He values isiah and will be working close with him. To me that means isiah will still have some hands on and can still' **** it up for us.

Their not telling us, because they know we won't like what they have to tell us. Don't you's find it strange that they won't say what his position will be?

I don't think Isiah is going to have any influence over James Dolan, or come back in any significant capacity with the Knicks, which is why I am not upset over the announcement. I think that's the key difference between those who are upset and those who aren't.

Although I can't say for sure that Isiah and Dolan don't have the naive pawn and puppet master relationship that some people speculate them to have.

You make a point in favor of the move and then turn around and undercut it?

For once I agree with Dolan, I mean Nalod.

Isiah will do the scouting and walsh will make the decisions.

What's all the fuss about, go out and have a great weekend.

Pity we couldn't have kept Hitler around as a behind the scenes advisor to the new German government.

That's a little over the line, IMO.

Maybe I overestimated this board's ability to digest sarcasm and hyperbole. Substitute the tyrant of your choice.

What good does it do to keep a disposed dictator as an adviser to a new regime? It's an insult to integrity.

Just to clarify things, I don't defend the decision to keep him on, I just don't think its a big deal just yet. Give it time, he might just "leave to persue an opportunity outside of basketball"
