I don't think the Knicks are going to make any moves soon.

You dont want to pay Lee for cap reasons if you draft two bigs and they both work out you wont have any money for them in 2011 if you spend it all in 2010. You really think at 200 Randolph will get things done defensively and his feel for the game is not great. Draft Lopez or Randolph so I can get a laugh

The thing is King I can't see any team taking Zach's contract this offseason. Unless Zach is packaged with players that teams want like Balkman, Lee, Nate. So regardless if people like Zach or not he probably will be on this team next year. The same thing with Curry. Or if we trade Zach for another big contract and I don't think that would be wise.

Answer this question. Lee is one dimensional one person said there is 50-70 D league players that could do his job, and he will never play a lot on a good team. If Lee is all these things why would a GM be dumb enough to give the Knicks a high pick for him?

I don't think you can trade in the NBA until after the season is over. The only moves Walsh can do is by cleaning house in the front office and coaching staff.

You think he will get a new team doctor? I think that doctor that Popcorn Man hired is horrible.

Lee is the best asset the Knicks have. Lee is a very good player but in order to team build and stay away from giving 9-10mm to Lee --I would rather move him for a high pick this year. If I cant get VERY high value for Lee than I would be more than happy to keep him. He is a unique tough hard working player who is getting better but I don't know if he is the best bet for this team going forward if I can reconstruct the team to a faster more athletic one with players who play at both ends.

The only moves I want to see are for expirings (not likely) or for draft picks. Count me on board with those who would trade Nate and Lee for picks (for cap structure purposes).

Other than that, I'm okay with no moves. The most efficient way to fix this mess--which is the same as its always been--is to let these albatross contracts expire. Sucks, but I'll be happy in three years when there is no more crap on the roster.
I hope the Knicks do not make moves unless it is for an expiring contract. I do not want to see moves being made for the hell of it like Isiah. If the Knicks have the same team they had this year that will be a good thing.

The reason is, that means they will have a losing record and they will get a good draft pick next year also. Plus Marbury, and Malik will be coming off the books next year. So to me it makes sense to stay with the same team unless we trade players for expiring contracts.

Lee for a pick does sound reasonable or Balkman for a pick.

Definitely... the one caveat I can think of is if the Knicks trade the same size and length contracts for another contract of the same size and length but less talented, plus a pick. I can't think of any instances where this is possible, because the Knicks seem to have all the least valuable bang-for-the-buck contracts in the league.

I don't either. I think Walsh is sincere in where he's not going to be like Isiah. He's not just going to fire everyone and try to trade everyone.

He's going to do so research. He's going to interview everyone involved from the front office, to the coaching staff, to all the players that will let him.

He'll then take a patient, respectful, and methodical approach to his plan to be.

I like that though. Aside from trying to move Randolph I don't really see any truly pressing issue that MUST be done this summer do you?

We're in a pretty deep hole, we have a lot of things that need to be addressed, and there is nothing that could happen this summer that could change the big picture here. It's going to take time and I'm willing to be patient.

For me, I'm setting a personal deadline (barring some wack move that has us all shaking our heads) of about 18 months - Feb Deadline 2009 - where I want to see a conclusive plan unfolding. I think given the roster, the money tied up in it, and the present woeful situation --- it will take quite some time and I think 18 months is a good point in time to decide if you like where the future is heading or not.

The Future = 2011 really at this point. So if by Feb 2009 you can see the future looking bright by 2011? He's doing his job.

There IS NO quick fix anymore. None. Time to be patient and get out of the knee-jerk era that Isiah instilled where he had us hanging on every draft pick and every new trade being sold as "THE FINAL MOVE" to make us good. Enough of that fantasy world......

I agree and I can see the same thing... we are going to pretty much see the same team with just the addition of the draft picks.....the players know it, and walsh knows it...
