I don't know if they allow anyone to renegotiate contracts after they are agreed & signed. If they are the player and agent will probably have to agree to it. I don't think it has ever happend before in the NBA, so Im guessing its not allowed.

They should allow the renegotiation for frontloading. In the end the player will still get the money he signed his contract for. This will give teams more flexebility. They will be able to pay the players they are trying to get rid of earlier. They should have it as a rule though that the player must *at least* make 1 mil each yr after, When a team frontloads.

Example Darius Miles has 2 yrs 18mil left on his contract. 08-09 He is set to make 9mil. 09-10 he is set to make 9mil. Portland would then be able to offer Miles 17mil for 08-09 and 1mil in 09-10. This allows them to pay him earlier and gain flexability from his contract earlier. I think it would be a really good idea.

Someone like Randolph. We would be able to renegotiate to pay him like 22mil in 08-09. 22mil in 09-10 and 4mil in 10/11.

How about Crawford and Curry both guys suck and don't bring winning to the table. DLee is the least of this teams worries and 9 million is movable when he is attached to it. Every team in the league wants him

Is there any way to renegotiate Randolph's contract and front load it drastically next year?

This seriously is an excellent question!

This whole notion about getting under the cap is a bit overblown. Walsh stated he wants flexibility in the cap. I'm not sure what that means exactly, but to me it means having guys with appropriate contracts. I don't think we are going to try and get 10 -20 Million in space so we can land a big free agent. The alternative is to have good assets at market $ that other teams want. Signing Lee to an appropriate contract gives us that.

Exactly, how many franchise players in there prime( other then a rear few) in which a franchise will just let walk for nothing. If the player demands a trade best be sure they want something in return.

Three years at $27M is steep...check out some of the players that make around $9M...David should make about $6 or $7M...like $18M to $21M over three years

Sam Dalembert $9M
Andre Miller $9M
TJ Ford $8M
Andres Nocioni $8.5M
Big Z $10M
Tayshaun Prince $8.7M
Troy Murphy $9.2M
Caron Butler $8.2M
Josh Howard $9M
Mike Miller $8.2M
David West $10M
Tyson Chandler $10M
Manu Ginobili $9M
Mehmet Okur $8.5M
Chris Kaman $8.6M
Boris Diaw $9.0M

It's steep but to be more precise it's *irrelevantly* steep because we're not aiming to get under the cap during those three years.
