Why can't we draft all-around players instead of hoping they become one.

The guy played center in college sheesh, he is not what a rebuilding team needs like the knicks.

We needs guys his size who can handle the ball and shoot from the outside.

The guys is a good player but, we can do better by trading him away.

If you can suggest a way to trade him in a package to get Lebron, Carmello and or a top draft pick, then I'm in. Otherwise, yes' we can do better, but no one trust's isiah to do that anymore and I'm certainly not willing to wait and find out.

I brought up a good point on starbury, curry and zach contracts and you didn't even flinch at it. Like it didn't even exist. Why?
I'll never trust this' team again.

a. Lee wanting 5 years, $50MM is an assumption with no basis.

b. Lee is still under contract next year for $1.7MM and then gets a qualifying offer the year after.

c. To say that the only valid comparisons between David and Josh are points and rebounds is ludicrous. Boone is an atrocious free throw shooter while David is excellent. He's also a much better passer, especially with his outlet passes which are some of the best in the game. He's a leader, hard worker, and an excellent spokesperson and role model for the team.

I mean, in their first respective years, Boone shot 54.4% from the free throw line and David 57.7%. Not much of a difference. David's has climbed to 82.2% while Boone's has dropped to an abysmal 46.0%. And that's with Boone going to the line MORE this year meaning he should be practicing on it more. Lee adds something to his game year after year, getting better year after year. Why do you trade a player like that?

Use Malik's expiring, Nate, and Balkman to try to get a mid-first rounder. Keep Lee.

excellent post....

Why do I trade a player like that? Because they're a dime a dozen.

I think Lee should be traded. You look around the NBA and the position were you can find the most All stars and Franchise players is the 4. Why should we limit our selves with a Hustle player making 8-10 million per at that position and be forced to find a most rare franchise center to cover for Lee??? Because he is white and can dunk??? I think moving would really help the knicks move on.

No one's talking about color here and I hope this isn't what it's about. And Lee isn't making 8 to 10 million as you just insinuated.

Josh Boone should be a Knick. So should marcus williams for that matter.

Fuck it. The Knicks team needs to be totally rebuilt. I got love and respect for david but the knicks are in such bad shape......if david has to go to fix the team then fine.

I think this should be the consensus. Everyone is fair game as long as our situation improves financially or roster-wise within the immediate or near immediate future.

Lee isn't a franchise player, but he could become as good of the role player as they come. Right now he isn't the best one , but he is the best one on the team by far so unless we get a faranchise player for him why would u trade him?

If I had to resign Lee, I would give him no more than 35 mil over 5 years. He's a big man that plays ZERO defense! What team is going to give Lee more than 7 mil a season? I just can't see it because I think the majority of NBA teams nowadays are reluctant to give big long term deals to flawed players.

I wouldn't give players 5yr contracts anymore unless they are on Paul, Kobe, Lebron, Howard level. For everyone else 4 yrs would be the max yrs I would giving out. Id give Lee a contract starting at 7mil which increases to 8.5mil in the final yr. With incentives to earn up to 10.5 if certain #s are met.

I could see $40m for Lee. He has some weaknesses in his game as do most players. But he has some very big stengths which are augmented by intangibles. He'll never be a star, but that doesn't mean he isn't a valuable player.

As far as trading him, for the right deal, I'd do it. But we shouldn't just trade the guy because he's not LeBron James. And by the way, both Lee and Balkman are better than Josh Boone and Marcus Williams. That doesn't need to be explained.

Anji , better you say it than me. There's a high premium for david Lee types in the association.

This is who most of the tickets buyers would like to see , and esteem them to their children as a role model.

This is on a team that has won 20 games all YR, we don't need another SAR.

D. Lee's worth depends on his role. I think that he could be a serviceable starter on a better team. In that role, he would be worth $8-9 millions a year. If he is going to be a 6th man, like he is now, then I don't think you could pay him more than $6-$7 million a year and ideally you would want keep his salary under $6 million. That being said, we will probably pay him $10 million a year to resign him.

Josh Boone is a better defensive player than Lee, but Lee is a better scorer and passer.

I remember when the Knicks drafted Lee everyone wanted Taft, and Blatche they had the high ceilings. Gomes was another name everyone wanted. If they re did the draft today Lee would be a top 8 pick. This draft is not very good and when someone has a high ceiling usually that means that havent done anything so far. About 5 guys will have a better career than Lee in this draft.
