Which is why I posted the Vecsey thread. Everything he said on NBATV is being played out.

I'll go ahead and add other thoughts aside from nysportsfan11 as to why I think Dolan didn't interview West or Colangelo yet. For starters both individuals have no ties to any basketball franchise right now. While Walsh is free to leave the Pacers he currently is working for them and gave his word on finishing out his job with them. The other two if they were to be interviewed they literally could start/accept the job effective immediately, which inevitably would mean a firing of I SAY UGH. Next Dolan stated last yr in order to consider West he would have to have I SAY UGH'S blessing. Has I SAY UGH given Dolan a green light to have someone replace him or work over him or assist him?... besides Grunwald who nothing more than an I SAY UGH hire. No! So if Dolan were to interview West he would go back on what he said within a yr, which again would be an indictment not only on himself but on the dual role employee. In Colangelo's situation it's all about save face. Stern recommended Colangelo a while ago and what did Dolan do, he turned his nose up at the idea. Does anyone really expect Dolan to come crawling back to Stern's recommendation? I think Not! Lastly I believe Walsh was considered as a first choice is because if it gets down to firing I SAY UGH Dolan won't have to be the one to do it, it'll fall on Walsh's shoulder. Notice the names we're hearing Walsh, Kiki, King 3 guys who would pose no threat to Dolan or Mills.

The media is guessing as Vecsey and nysportsfan11 said they would, were, and are doing.

Seems like a logical chain of events to me. If Walsh does come on board we all still have to worry as to whether or not Isiah ok'd the move and that he and Walsh would actually work together. If they do then well...get ready for another round of trying to fix this disaster with a trade or two.

No one knows and I'm sitting back patiently waiting. I don't feel I have to know right now what's going on but it would be nice if we did. I don't think I SAY UGH will be back next yr personally. Dolan didn't have it in him to ax I SAY UGH during the season but he knows he needs to be and he'll more than likely let the next person in charge do so.

[b]Posted by franco12:[/b1- I think all the supporters of walsh on this board - and I mean all the people who are excited at the prospect and think walsh is a great candidate- are going to have to own up to the fact that maybe walsh ain't that bright after all, and he isn't so much doing his own thing as catering to the owner.
why? who cares who the coach is? I want Isiah gone because he sucks, but Isiah, Herb, Lenny, Chaney, Larry... they all have something in common. The all coached CRAPPY players.

Walsh will have a plan to make the PLAYERS on this team better. If Isiah coaching isnt on a par with the talent or what DW is trying to build he will be gone.
Did you just say that if Isiah's performance is not on par, he'll be gone? Have you been in a cave for the past four years? (The owner, not the GM, gets the final say in hiring and firing.)

Collangelo has not won a title either.

West did not do that great a job in Memphis.

West had a nice Run in LA when he drafted Kobe and was able to get Shaq without a cap concern.

Maybe he just wants some Dolan cash and mail it in for while.

Besides, with our team you talking a whole differnt set of circumstances.

Isiah must go because bringing in a new president and GM completely undermines him and that cannot be effective under any circumstances for isiah to work in. Besides, season tix sales will sag.

Dolan will starphuch this as a new beginning for the franchise and we will see change.

I'd rather bring in Skiles and let him beat up Marbury into shape. Its about time Marbury put in a full season. Let him crack under the pressure if need be, but we need our money's worth.

Isiah lost his team a long time ago and just needs to go. There is no logical reason to keep him. None.

And I assume Donnie brings in some logic.

One point regarding West in Memphis. While overall he didn't turn the franchise around, he did make a very good trade to bring Rudy Gay there. It hurt them in the short run, but it's starting to pay dividends.

Dolan is pretty small minded and he is very loyal. He could have planned on interviewing more canidates but was so impressed with Walsh that he committed to him. Dolan may have been told to approach Walsh.

Ira,

All GMs with tenure have ebbs and flows.

I think Memphis under hubie was making some nice strides hwhen they first moved to the new building and they spent some coin.

West like many good ones have some great moves and a few mistakes.

I think chemistry with the owner-president-GM-coach as a "team" is very important.

I'll give Walsh his chance. He is wants the gig, and has as good a track record as collangelo.

West had shaq with no cap to worry about.

The logo did a nice job, but he had help.

Ira,

The fact that Dolan went straight to Walsh rather than interview Colangelo and West = Coach Zeke!
