Lets go Brooklyn Nets!

That's what Dolan is doing. Day by day, someone becomes a Brooklyn Nets fan. 21 years Ive bled this team, and as long as Dolan has ANYTHING to do with it, then it's going to be Loser City.

Oh I bet you dolan will get on his ass, as soon as the Nets start showing who's the winner in NY. The Nets move to Brooklyn will probably be the thing that saves the Knicks from total destruction. Unless of course, dolan gets a hold of the Nets also. What a scary ass thought.
I'll never trust this' team again.

Dolan doesn't care about any of this. He will still be making his money in the end. He's not emotionally committed to the Knicks.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

The Rangers seem to be doing OK the last few years despite Dolan's ownership.

OK. I agree that there are differences between the NBA and NHL, and specifically the Knicks and Rangers, because of their respective CBA's and the recent changes that the NHL went through.

But I also think Dolan's willingness to spend money is an asset that many owners are unwilling to make available to their GM's. In the right hands, it could be a weapon.

Dolan's loyalty can be a fault and a benefit. Ultimately, I think he made a bad move in choosing Isiah as his main man. But I'm willing to put that aside should Dolan hire a new exec who is more equipped to handle the job.

Fine. So I don't know how to read. Do you really have to rub it in?

HAHA!!! That's hilarious...

DJ has been reinvigorated by the news about Walsh. He's posting and toasting. This precocious neophyte is the protagonist on the board. He was in the doldrums, but no longer.

Not because of any fault in the weapon, but rather, because of the fault of the person wielding it.

Clearly disagree with the Thread title. The Knicks are doomed as long as Isiah and half the team is here. As dumb as Dolan is in general and for giving Isiah an extension, I can't hate someone who put absolutely no financial restrictions on their general manager until he realized that the GM is full of incompetence and one that is a predator at the Garden who harasses employees.

This is my conclusion.

With Dolan's insistence on keeping Isiah, it is now finally clear he does not care about winning and knows little about the game of basketball. He just prefers personal relationships with people over whatever the results are on the court. He did the same thing with Sather, except the Rangers had some luck with the CBA and the fact that they actually rebuilt under a championship GM. The same thing wont happen to Isiah. If he ever decides to fire him, it will be too late.

The franchise is already irrelevant at this point. In 10-15 years, nobody will be "dying" to work at the Garden and no free agent is going to want to sign here(we wouldn't have the cap room anyway). The Knicks are headed down a path of failure not even the great Donald Stirling could think of. The Knicks will be more irrelevant than the Clippers soon. It's going to happen eventually. The demise of such a great franchise at the hands of a fat egomaniac who has had everything given to him on a silver platter his entire life. What a sad way for a once-proud franchise to go out. Red Holzman and Dave Debuscherre are rolling over in their graves.

I agree. I think people are making a very questionable assumption when they get excited over possible replacements for Isiah: that whoever works under Dolan is actually going to make a difference. After seeing what's gone on under Dolan, I think people are just getting excited about having a new seat on the Titanic. I hope I'm wrong.

How doomed do you think we would be if RC Buford (GM of the SA Spurs) was at the helm of the Knicks' General Management Office and brough in the same players he brought in San Antonio ? Don't tell me there would've been a power struggle. Its been almost 5 years of Isiah now, so time is a non factor as well.

I could see the same question asked about Layden when he was hired because no one came with a stronger resume than he did. Who the GM is does NOT matter if the owner cares only about instant profits. I translate your question "How doomed do you think we would be if RC Buford (GM of the SA Spurs)" into "how doomed do you think we would be if we got nicer seats on the Titanic?" You know the answer.

Damn, you should all read this piece:
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/writers/the_bonus/02/06/price.knicks0212/index.html

It's from last year but a lot of the points are scary.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.
