If this is true and they keep him. It's pretty much time to stop watching the knicks for good and possibly the NBA. Strictly college hoops for me.

I think at some point, dolan is gonna have to be the focus of a massive campaign to throw his dictatorship from power.

I know his father was born in Ohio, but I don't know where james was born himself? He's not even from around New York, I bet. A guy who's had to go and recover from drugs and alcoholism, running a mulit million dollar franchise like this is a play thing for him. A device to vent his curiosity away from his personal problems. Has nothing to do with success, at least not under normal circumstances.

Well' whenever that campaign starts, I'll be coming aboard. We are doomed and being punished for what' I don't know.
I'll never trust this' team again.

A couple of things...first:
Jim is telling whoever he interviews, 'I would prefer to keep Isiah but you do what you have to do,'"

Seems to have been lost on all but 1 in this thread.

Secondly: Isiah is owed 3 more years and 18M. If Dolan wants to force him to earn that money and stash him back in the front office? So be it. It's not what we want but there's nothing we can do about it and it will remove Isiah from public so it's at the very least a step in the right direction.

To work off that: Walsh will have full control. Isiah can't go to him and say he wants to trade Marbury, our lotto pick, Lee for Jermaine ONeal and Indy's pick and have it go through without a thought. Walsh will shoot down Isiah's ideas - which in turn will create the necessary friction between the two - that will lead to Isiah's eventual firing anyway.

An afterthought: Isiah might be given GM title but no power at all. We might never hear from him again. There's a decent chance of that.

It would be best to get rid of Isiah altogether but that 18M says otherwise. At least he won't be coach and won't have power to make any more of his ridiculous trades. That itself is a huge step forward.

Lastly: "Do what you have to do". Well, sure sounds like if you're adamant about it you can fire Isiah the day you take the job as President. It'd be preferred to make him earn his money but if he must go then he will go.

So, well, much ado about nothing as usual with these articles and again we're talking about an evolving situation that is on hold until the conclusion of the season anyway. No use getting suckered into any of these articles out there.

has anyone else been struck by that the fact that the money # for walsh that is thrown out there is $15M over 3 years- yet isiah has $18M over 3 years? The guy that ruined the franchise is getting more than the guy brought in to fix things?

Geeeeessssshhhhhh! We're talking about negotiating stashing this guy somewhere with a title now. How did it ever come down to this?

Oh yes, that occured to me. And let it be known right now, that Donnie's contract proposal is very reasonable and that isiah's contract is wayyyyy out of proportion, just like the overpaid bums he put on the floor. Soon enough, the big nonesense money makers will all be gone and maybe for once in our lifetimes, someone like a Donnie Walsh can right this ship in the right direction and balance out this team fiscally.

Like I said, the team is a play thing for dolan. That's why it's in the mess it's in. We can't even negotiate for the near future yet. It's gonna take some time, but the next guys gotta keep it straght, until things boil over.
I'll never trust this' team again.

It's not my preference but I wouldn't be surprised if this is on the table as the #1 option at the moment.

How did it come down to this? Dolan believing all of Isiah's excuses over the years which led to Dolan feeling like Isiah deserved an extension because after Francis' miracle shot in DC - to Dolan - it seemed like Isiah was onto something with the excuses - and the Knicks were headed in the right direction.

In that, he gave him the extension, and a by-product of that is not wanting to eat another 18M so someone can go home and sit on the couch.

So I guess in Dolan's mind he wants to make Isiah earn at least some of that - and there's probably a good chance Isiah is kept on for at least 1 more season.

Then, Summer 2009, Isiah would have 12M left and maybe you can see a 10M buyout to make him go away.

It's hard to creep inside of Dolan's mind but it wouldn't surprise me if that is what he's thinking right now.

Understood Cosmic.

Also, I often wonder what they would pay me' if I went out, grabbed the PA mic and announced that dolan and isiah are two of the greatest executives the Knicks ever had. I bet I'd get something like 20 million for five years for being the only fan in NY that loved them both.

I could probably arrange to look just a little bit like him also. That would buy me some time, before I'm tackled and hauled off to jail.
