He may be able to overpower ppl at collegiate level but day in day out in the NBA he'll be facing taller, more athletic ppl day in and out.

Isn't this usually' the case with majority of rooks? His strength and build can be built up, once he's in the pros. It's his skill and willingness to work hard on them is what impresses me. I think he can excell if given the chance. But he should not be the main focus, if we get a shot at the top guys.

i can't speak from any position of confidence what Dereck Rose will or won't be cuz i haven't seen enough of him... i'll just have to take people's word for it... if he's gonna be the next Marbury then i hope just like Marbury he'll be traded to another team on draft night for a guy w/o the baggage issues like Ray Allen.

I'm not sure where anyone gets the idea that he's another starbury. He seems very mature (freshmen) as a basketball player.

I was actually setting myself up for a future joke. Here is the history:

A few years ago when Sweetney was drafted, I was bragging about my unmatched knowledge of Big East Players and proclaimed that Michael Sweetney would be Elton Brand light(insert joke here). When people challenged me I called them idiots and losers(TMS being one of them). When Sweetney turned out to be nothing but another fat NBA player I changed my story and said that I meant that Sweetney would be like Elton Brand IN STYLE OF PLAY.

Fast forward to today. I compare Rose to Marbury. I can't lose. If he's a flp then I win. If he is great I can simply say that he's just like Marbs in Style of play. This way, I am never wrong.

On a serious note: I love Rose. I think he will be a tough, player. Superstar? Remains to be seen. But in terms of effort level, work ethic, ability to defend, and his ability to blow by almost anyone at anytime. At this point I would be happy to draft him. If he bombs, I would not kill my GM over that selection.

By the way TMS, this was actually a hypothetical situation so do not take it as an admission of an inaccurate prediction. I did say Style of play

Bip, i predict Derreck Rose will make all your predictions come true.

in terms of "style of play" i hope to God anyone we take is not anything like Marbury... i want a pass first G who knows how to facilitate & run an offense & play some tight D on the perimeter, we already have scoring G's on this roster... the other questions about Marbury's insanity are hard to fathom being replicated in another player, but i guess anything's possible... scary thought right there.

I like nate i think he can score, but if we can get Lowry for Rose I think you add another player who defends and can get people involved. Add Rose to the equation, and look to move Curry perhaps in a sign in trade or just for an expiring or even to the grizzles for darko and lowry or something similiar. The Knicks need Rose bad throw in Artest with a new coach and a new attitude accountability i think the team can really turn it around
