I like Donnie Walsh, but I'd rather get Colangelo or Kiki.

The terrifying thing about Walsh is that he likes Isiah and might leave him here as coach. I'd worry that if we hired Walsh, it would involve keeping Zeke involved with the team somehow.

I agree about their relationship, but I honestly don't think he'll have a say about whether or not Isiah is allowed to stick around. Even if he wanted Isiah as coach, I doubt Dolan would allow it if he's this pissed at Isiah right now.

Please God, let this happen. And before the draft.

Amen...

Watch it come down to he won't let Walsh have complete control like he should and we end up turning to Billy King as the answer. It is interesting to hear the GM/President and coach could potentially be two different people, which means no other place for I SAY UGH to go.

LOL.. you may be right.. could you imagine dolan Hiring king, and then king extending Isiah even longer.. ROFL!!!!!

That is the definition of Hell...

Walsh hired Isiah as coach, he could then be Isiah's boss again.

Hire Mark Jax as an announcer and let him be around the team. Then bring him as assistant to Walsh.

Then let Donnie and Jax sit there and chat during the game and point to things as Isiah squirms being second guessed.

Then fire his ass!

Having a "NY tempermant" would be ok if he was a dog but not head coach.

Please don't sell me the guy based on his Knicks roots or where he was born.

when is his contract up? Before or after the draft. We would have to give the Pacers comp if he's under contract before the draft and we want him for then. Hopefully just cash, but knowing Dolan we give the Pacers the #2 pick in the draft

LOL.. plus the option to switch picks over the next 5 years...

Anybody is good to replace Isiah.
I am so tired of him I will accept even dog to take care about this team.

I don't understand the point of keeping Isiah around if he is gonna be fired. He needs to be placed out of his misery.

Walsh, or colangelo.....what are the other options? None.....

Isiah has some talent I like but the Knicks need to wash there hands of this whole layden to isiah era.....time to start everything new.

Of course your right, but thats emotion talking to you.

Your forgetting "Spite" is a major factor in MSG and that is just how it is.

I ain't saying to keep Isiah, but But Jimmy does what jimmy does, and jimmy likes to rub his minions faces in their own fecal matter.

Yeah, fecal matters in MSG, and Jimmy gonna make you pay.

Jimmy chould hire Colangelo to run MSG and fire Mills, let Walsh run the knicks, and send ISiah down the river with his cash.

But Jimmy don't play that way.

I think Jackson would be a great coach. If you ever get a chance to watch him do a Net game you can hear all of the insight that he brings to the table. He is a big defense first, no layup, standup for your teammate guy. He also was a coach on the floor as a player and was one of the best passing point guards all time despite being slower and less athletically gifted than most of his peers. He gets it. He spoke at the school my father was Superintendent at in DobbsFerry in the late 80's. He was a pretty young guy but had a powerful message. He has tremendous character, and he is a Knick legend. I think he would be great.

JrZyHuStLa - nyk4eva posted the article and the link. there is no need to post articles in their entirety if one knows how to use a computer.

crushAlot - what you said

Mark Jackson is New York and would grow into the job faster you can say Louis Orr.

Am I the only one that doesn't want Walsh in here?
I mean, what about his Pacer teams does anybody like?
They're a bunch of low character, pistol-wielding thugs, THAT ATTACKED THE FANS.
Talk about Jail-blazers! Those guys are worse!

Isn't he the guy that gave Jailen that obscene contract?
I'll hold out for Coangelo, thanks.

you know what- you've got a point.

Now, you do need to acknowledge that until recently- when they had miller- they put some nice teams together.

But- we should be looking to nab talent from the top organizations.

Lets call up RC Buford and offer him a bigger title and more money.

How can we not pay him more than San Antonio?

Somehow- they're able to put winners together- they make smart moves, and they're never over the cap like us.

Is Donnie Walsh the best?

I don't think so.

Walsh would be a nice first step, he or Colangelo really. Although we said the same thing about Isiah and Larry Brown, so I'll reserve judgement. but it's long past time to bring someone in to clean up this damn disgrace of a team.

also I think it's looking more like Isiah will be out of the office but will be sticking around as coach next year.

Yeah, I'm not sold on Walsh either. I have to be honest I haven't done a lot of research on his career so I may not be the best judge but.........

This is NY. We are shelling out more money than any franchise in league history. It's time to stop spending this money on guys we hope can do the job and instead spend this money on THE BEST!! For me, that's Colangelo
I just hope that people will like me

We might pin the JailPacers on Larry Birds reign than Donnie. Larry has been the man in charge the last few years.

Indy has budget constraints.

Walsh was the architect of the LONG run they had during the miller era.

They were victoms to the bulls also and I believe they could have won a title. Also they never landed the pointguard they needed. Mark Jax was limited even in his best days, and Hayman Workman just was not it.

Praise Colangelo all you want, but this is the bonehead that traded kidd, which I understand, for Marbury, which I understand, and gave him max money! The Suns have not won a title either, so why is this guy so high on alls list?

Yes, he has cred and thats important. So does Walsh.

Don't look too hard on these guys failures so much as their successes. If either of them were to work here, or both, it will be different. Why? Cuz they will have money and a whold different set of cicumstances to deal with.

Jerry west did not win in Memphis.

Who do you guys really want? Little Colangelo is not available, and Buford is not bringing Timmy with him!

Sounds like we all want that starphuch GM who is gonna be our saviour and right the ship. Maybe its some no big name assistant who has the worth ethic and ambition and not afraid to put it to work. But we hire colangelo and/or walsh (old guys) instead for the name? Might be the right thing, might not.

Maybe the compromise is to hire one or both and then in short time get the succession plan in place where we build upon a culture rather than starphuching.

If Colangelo is just a figure head given lots of money and he just comes in without real power then things won't change.

Who here doesn't want Colangelo, I don't think there's one person. It's a given he would be Top choice but often times when choosing you don't get the best. Do we need the best, deserve the best, and want the best sure but what we do know out of say 100 choices we could choose from to replace I SAY UGH 95 of them are better. If we can't get the best 1 out of 100 then let's try to get as close as we can. We need someone to come in here and stop the bleeding it may take someone else down the road to perform and complete the successful surgery.

Donnie Walsh is one of the greatest GM's in the sport and would be a pheomenal guy to get. He is a true New Yorker and actually has a desire for this job.

My only concern with him is if he kept Isiah on to coach. That would just be a disaster.

I have the same concern vdesai, unless Dolan fires him as coach too. This would be f'in blind. Why can't we just put ourselves on a new leaf?

I don't care if Isiah stays on as coach next year.
The point is to start remedying the problems with the roster with someone who knows what they are doing. Let Zeke sit there and get booed every night thru the rebuild. Who cares.

I care. I don't want to see him fixated on the Fred Jones and Malik Roses and JJs of the world at one point anymore amongst other things.
