i like Crittendon a lot... i've tried coming up w/ways to trade for him before when he was still in LA... i think a straight up trade for either Balk or Chandler would be fair value... not sure if MEM would be interested in another swingman tho.
David Lee is probably going to want to start, but I don't see us getting a center that would allow him to start anytime soon. This trade would give the Knicks a 6'5 point guard and a 7'0 footer that can hit a jumpshot plus almost blocks 2 shots in 24 minutes of play. Plus he is 22 years old and should be coming into his own very soon. Adding these two guys would add alot of versatility to how the knicks build there team. Darko can play the 4 or the 5 and Crittenton also the knicks to draft any undersized 2 guard they want.
So this year the knicks can take Gordon/Rose/Bayless and Next year the knicks could draft B.J. Mullens/Serge Ibaka.
just not that crazy about Darko... he's got severe anger management issues (if u've watched that clip of him going off w/some really heinous comments about the refs in Russian) & he isn't all that good to begin with... if u want a 7 foot shotblocker, much better to draft Thabeet, hold onto D Lee & trade for Crittendon using either Chandler or Balk (throw in a 2nd rounder if u have to).
Darko may not live up to being the second overall pick, but he definitly can do what Lee does. 10 points, 8or9 rebounds and 2 blocks is probably Darko's "Basement". And even though it appears very likely that is all he will ever be, that is just about what Lee will be for his career. 10 or 12 points with 9-11 rebounds.... that's all Lee is. And a 6-9 husle player with a 7-2 husle Center isn't really going to work. One of those two positions needs to be an player with a form offense that isn't a putback dunk.
Basically what this trade is doing breaking Lee down into two prospects. One is Crittenton, a 6-5 point guard that could our starting point for 7-8 years if he is good. That in it's self is probably as viable as Lee is to this team. The other is Darko, a 7footer that can hit a jump shot and probably around 2 shots a game. Pretty much a shotblocking verison of Lee.
So how is that not a good Trade??? turning Lee into a player who's career will probably end up being a role player like Lee and a starting point guard.
if the goal is to fill our needs at the PG & C positions, then you don't necessarily have to trade Lee, that's what i'm saying... if u'r bringing in Crittendon to be Jamal's backcourt mate & using the lottery pick to take Thabeet (for argument's sake) then what do u need w/Darko? y give up our best young player for a guy who's never lived up to expectations? you would still have Zach starting games w/Lee backing him up... if u add a shotblocking presence & PG who can orchestrate, that addresses both needs right there... then u can sign an Artest or someone to the MLE & address the need at SF (assuming u give up Chandler or Balk & say a 2nd rounder for Crittendon).
if u'r arguing that u'd rather hold onto Chandler & Balk over Lee, i have to disagree w/u on that one... Lee is more accomplished & proven than both those guys & has shown himself to be very effective in whatever role he's given to play on this team.
