For Darko Milicic and Javaris Crittenton. We thorw in Rose and Balkman/Chandler

That would help the team fill team needs up quiclky. Memphis can go Center with there pick and the knicks could go 1/2/3/4/5.

Smart move. Get rid of Lee, Balkman & Chandler just to get rid of Rose???

And we're still stuck with Curry, Q, starbury, Zach, Jeffries & James?

...............Never apply for the GM job.

What country are you from???

Why do ya wanna know?
I'll never trust this' team again.

I been hearing Lee's name a lot. Why do some of you want to get rid of Lee so bad?

[Edited by - 4949 on 03-13-2008 11:29 AM]

no one WANTS to get rid of Lee... it's just reality that he's our most valuable asset right now, so if u can address the team's needs by trading him, i think it's a fair option to explore.

i like Crittendon a lot... i've tried coming up w/ways to trade for him before when he was still in LA... i think a straight up trade for either Balk or Chandler would be fair value... not sure if MEM would be interested in another swingman tho.

David Lee is probably going to want to start, but I don't see us getting a center that would allow him to start anytime soon. This trade would give the Knicks a 6'5 point guard and a 7'0 footer that can hit a jumpshot plus almost blocks 2 shots in 24 minutes of play. Plus he is 22 years old and should be coming into his own very soon. Adding these two guys would add alot of versatility to how the knicks build there team. Darko can play the 4 or the 5 and Crittenton also the knicks to draft any undersized 2 guard they want.

So this year the knicks can take Gordon/Rose/Bayless and Next year the knicks could draft B.J. Mullens/Serge Ibaka.

just not that crazy about Darko... he's got severe anger management issues (if u've watched that clip of him going off w/some really heinous comments about the refs in Russian) & he isn't all that good to begin with... if u want a 7 foot shotblocker, much better to draft Thabeet, hold onto D Lee & trade for Crittendon using either Chandler or Balk (throw in a 2nd rounder if u have to).

Darko may not live up to being the second overall pick, but he definitly can do what Lee does. 10 points, 8or9 rebounds and 2 blocks is probably Darko's "Basement". And even though it appears very likely that is all he will ever be, that is just about what Lee will be for his career. 10 or 12 points with 9-11 rebounds.... that's all Lee is. And a 6-9 husle player with a 7-2 husle Center isn't really going to work. One of those two positions needs to be an player with a form offense that isn't a putback dunk.

Basically what this trade is doing breaking Lee down into two prospects. One is Crittenton, a 6-5 point guard that could our starting point for 7-8 years if he is good. That in it's self is probably as viable as Lee is to this team. The other is Darko, a 7footer that can hit a jump shot and probably around 2 shots a game. Pretty much a shotblocking verison of Lee.

So how is that not a good Trade??? turning Lee into a player who's career will probably end up being a role player like Lee and a starting point guard.

if the goal is to fill our needs at the PG & C positions, then you don't necessarily have to trade Lee, that's what i'm saying... if u'r bringing in Crittendon to be Jamal's backcourt mate & using the lottery pick to take Thabeet (for argument's sake) then what do u need w/Darko? y give up our best young player for a guy who's never lived up to expectations? you would still have Zach starting games w/Lee backing him up... if u add a shotblocking presence & PG who can orchestrate, that addresses both needs right there... then u can sign an Artest or someone to the MLE & address the need at SF (assuming u give up Chandler or Balk & say a 2nd rounder for Crittendon).

if u'r arguing that u'd rather hold onto Chandler & Balk over Lee, i have to disagree w/u on that one... Lee is more accomplished & proven than both those guys & has shown himself to be very effective in whatever role he's given to play on this team.

You know something, I find it funny how all of us pick this and that and come up with the best plan and in the end, isiah gets to pick and probably won't pick (or trade for) anyone close to what any of us want.

Although, I think a few figured we'd get chandler last year, but that almost seemed a no brainer. I guess it's all in fun overall.

I could see trading Curry, Jeffries, and Lee for Darko, Miller, and Critteton. That would get rid of Curry and jeffries both of whom are useless at this point and give us a legitmate shooter in Miller, and give us another pg prospect in Critteton (? spelling). Darko is not much but he is young and he does rebound and block shots. He still has a chance of turning into a decent center and he can anchor our defense far better than Curry can. If you got Rose in the draft, you would be looking at Rose, Crawford, Miller, Randolph, and Darko as a starting lineup. That is not a bad lineup and we should be able to play better defense with Darko manning the center spot and Rose at pg.

NO ONE even mentioned Chandler until news started breaking about Zeke wanting him and then Briggs guaranteed we'd be picking him.

I have never seen Crittenton play. Is he really worthy of all this "future pg for 8 years" love?

Oh, I'm assuming moves to gid rid of Zach and most of the vets would be following a trade of Lee. Signing Artest and draft a center that cover for Zach isn't something I was figuring for. Darko is a role player, he could be a banger for Beasely or some other player we might draft.

Other then Nate, Morris and one of Balkman/Chandler, I'm thinking most of the roster wouldn't survive.

he looks pretty good from the small glimpses i saw of him playing in some Lakers games, but those were mainly in garbage time... he's got nice size at his position, has nice handle, has a good looking J & is very good at penetrating into the lane & dishing to open teammates... he isn't invisible on defense either from what i can tell.

i went down through an entire list of possibilities to try & figure out a way to trade Zach, but it doesn't look like there are many options out there... i think Curry's the guy who is more likely to be traded realistically, in which case i wouldn't even mind bringing Darko in on a trade (but not for D Lee) & using the draft pick to take Mayo or Gordon.

How about we dont trade David Lee, try to unload the veterans like Randolph, Jamal Crawford, Jared Jeffries , Qrich (good luck on all of that), and just play our lottery pick and Lee, Robinson, Balkman, Chandler, and just tank.

You cant rebuild this in a year. Lets shoot for 2009-2010 to even HOPE to be out of the lottery. And keep our young players who actually entertain us.
