Damn, you hit that right on the head. I'd rather have Steve Kerr than Houston and his insistance on being the best player on the team. At least Steve Kerr knows his role and plays it to the bone. Houston doesn't know if he is a superstar or a bust....despite the fact that the basketball world knows that he is nothing more than an overpaid soft 2 guard that stepped in a pile of crap that Ernie Grunfeld and Dave Checketts left behind.

Karnivore don't hurt'em they are playing with fools gold with spree because he has a afro they actually think he's really something. Takeaway the money and most gms would luv to have ALLAN HOUSTON, instead of skid row MEWELL!

The only reason any GM would chose Spree over Houston if you take away the contracts would be because of their reputations.

Incredible how you all claim to be Knicks fans and then forget why the hell we were so good before... IT WAS DEFENSE!!!!!!!
and you know what! Houston has NONE!!!!!
Spree is one of the better defenders in the game....
and he's a slasher with heart...
He's had his problems... but your crazy if you think a guy who is only good at shooting jumpshots (albeit awesome at it) could even be close to being the better player to a guy who plays hard defense, can score at will in clutch games, draws defenses to him, slashes the paint, and has heart...

Allan houston has won again! He has outlasted all the fools who said he is the weak link. Now he has someone at small forward who will(compliment) him and not compete against him. Great structure for the knicks, we are finally turning the corner on bad moves of the past. We have youth in Lampe ,sweetney and F.Williams, we have seasoned vets in VanHorn Eisely(bad contract),KT (IF HE LAST) with Allan Houston leading the pack.

Hey!!! I finally just found something that I, personally, can be happy about in reference to this trade:

HOUSLESS WILL FINALLY HAVE TO ACTUALLY GUARD HIS MAN!!

No more leaning back on Spree to guard Kobe (assuming he stays a free man), Ivo, Vince, Allen, Pierce... woooohoooo!!! Oh, unless one of you actually thinks that KVH is going to guard them?? ROFL

He can do all he wants before we go to (and win) the draft next year. Then he'll compete with the #1 pick we are guaranteed to get.

In the meantime he can have 3-point shootouts with KVH while we get blown out this season.

amazing. frigging amazing. i can see why people are complaining about the spree trade. i love spree just as much as the next person and hate to see him gone. but then turn and dump on houston? come on! i heard two of the most ridicilous statements this board has ever seen. one: i would ratehr have steve kerr than allan houston and steve kerr has more heart than houston. what??? first ask stve kerr to avg. 23 pts per for a season on a team with NO inside presence. this is a man who scored the most points in a season game this season. damn! people criticize him for his defense but there are a LOT of other "all- stars" who play worse defense( vince carter?). then saying allan has no heart. did'nt allan play in the playoffs three years ago with a severely sprained ankle? i mean i swas the injury on tv and it looked like he should have been out. but he sucked it up and not only finish the game but the series despite we lost to the pacers. that is heart. allan is who he is. he is a scorer. he does not play the best defense but he tries. i am not saying that he is better than spree. to me that is apples to oranges. if you want a better scorer and clutch shooter who provides leadership and character, go for houston. if you want all- around player who plays unselfish and provides energy go for spree. but people saying houston sucks is ridiculous and shows that the new york fans being the most knowledgeable are merely a myth. go to philadelphia with those statements. philly fans always say something just as outlandish.

Yeah well with NO inside presence, he AND the rest of the team started to do that. However, that has historically been Allan's game. No hate there, just facts.

Houston is worth every penny of his contract. People like Spree more its becuase he is a thug. Houston will still avg his 20pts for 2 more years then it will go down to 18. Spree will avg 10 next year jsut watch!

U forgot that this thread started out trashing Sprewell. Anyway how is Sprewell a thug?? Cuz he is the creater of the Sprewells(spinning rims)???, Is its cuz he missed an early mourning shoot around 2yrs ago????, Or is it cuz he was falsly accused of punching his boat????

Spree will play SG in Minn. And though he won't score as much as usual since he has to share the ball with Cassell, Sczcerbiak, Garnett, Kandi, Hudson. But I do expect his effeciency to go up. I expect 42% 16pts 4rebs 4assist.

Now by next season all the Spree haters will turn to Van Horn to bash him. If not Van Horn it will be Chaney.

You knick fans should take note that Houston has improved every facet of his game last season. Formerly knowned to be soft, Houston has changed that dramatically. If you recall, Don Chaney was the one who selected Houston in the draft during the Piston yrs. Now, Houston is playing for Chaney and has escalated his game to the next level. You H20 haters complained "how is houston gonna defend the kobes,iversons,mcgradys and the ray allens but ask yourself the ? in reverse. How are they gonna stop H20??? Well, Houston scored over 50 vs kobe and Ray Allen this past season and over 30 vs McGrady. If were watching Knick games last yr, you would've seen Allan exploring all sought of nifty moves against his opponent, whether he's demonstating one on one isolations, pump fake jump shots, 1st quick steps blowing by his opponents and studder moves to the basket, Allan has changed his game tremendously. Part of it has to be, playing for Chaney. Allan has also improved on his defense as well. People need to stop bashing Allan and watch the games. We know he didn't deserve 100mm contract but thats not his fault, it was MGmt. Right now, Allan's game has escalated and Spree's has declined.
