nec overpaying Ewing and not trading him faster has hurt the knicks as well. the whole thing has been accumalative. Trading him when he had no value really hurt us

to be fair, i would of traded hi right after the finger roll game.

Oh, come on. If it were up to you, you would've traded the draft rights to Ewing!!

I feel ya, tho. I'd trade Housless away for some crusty government cheese and warm can of Tab.

nah pike it's not stupid, whats stupid is you questioning me. layden dads was in a interview when he basically said the knicks are not trying to appeal to the hard core fan thats wants rebuilding, they appeal to the fans paying 1400 for court side seats.

So basically they will continue with the nmirage of first round second rounds hopes.

When i say WIN i mean the championship. That not on the dolan crews raday son.

lemme say like this the priority is not winning it's turning a huge profit.

and unfortunately there are a ton of teams like this. Check the bengals the clippers and Jets out.

the knicks are in this same mold, winning is secondary.

EXACTLY.

Sad part is how many fans have fallen into this mode as well. It's been so long they've forgotten the goal SHOULD BE to win a championship. Celebrating a team simply making the playoffs as a low seed is utterly ridiculous.

Going crazy cuz NY drafted these young kids and that'll 'enable us to make the playoffs' is totally asinine. Make the playoffs?? To quote my man DC: "Whoop-de-damn-doo"

Oh, yeah, I forgot: once your in the playoffs 'anything can happen'. Yeah, the same thing that happened in '99 happens every year.

Pike, I've been harping on that with my friends for some time now. Some of them celebrate this 'new offense' NY runs. I tell them that when NY was running their boring low post offense, and playing top-notch D, the Garden ROCKED. If you were sitting in the fourth quarter, you weren't watching the game.

Nowadays, the Garden is utterly quiet and boring at crunch time cuz everybody knows what's coming: another loss.

Yeah, keep trying to convince yourself you're not a Knicks fan, ARES. We all believe you.. (rolling eyes, shaking head)

As far as being a Lakers fan... I have no doubt with Payton and Malone coming onboard. Of course with you, it's series by series... you a Nets fan, then last year, A Spurs fan... in two or three years, a Cavalier fan... heck, you're like Gary Payton, attempting to buy his rings. lol.

Yeah, I saw a couple of KNICKS Championships... it appears YOU never will.

Ice, I posted this on another thread, but it applies here:
While I agree that NY should rebuild, (particularly getting rid of the albatross that is Allan Housless' undeserved contract) I can't agree with the 'we'll never be under the cap' comments. Look no further than this year's champions for the blueprint on how it's done. Getting under the cap does not mean getting there and staying there. It means planning for that one season where your team can be 14, 15 million under, even if you're over the cap the seasons before (as SA was) and will be over the cap for quite a few seasons after. If a GM with a clue (read: NOT Scott LayDUMB) can come up with a long term plan to get this team under the cap for the end of 2007-2008 season, get a QUALITY free agent (at or entering his prime) that will justify putting NY back over the cap, then he's done a hell of a job.

Now, if these draft picks turn out as well as everybody expects, that's one hella step towards that. Dumping the Housless', Eisley, Anderson contracts would be another. Even Spree, if NY commits to this path. Assuming the picks play well, NY would be in exactly the same spot (mediocrity), but moving in a direction that would enable the team to add a top-notch free agent to the mix at approximately the time these kids would be 'coming into their own' as far as their NBA games go.

Your call for Lebron is a perfect example. Can you imagine if we had a GM with the foresight to plan on clearing the cap space to be able to make a REALISTIC run at Lebron when he's a Free Agent? But, as we all know, it'll never happen. We'll still be looking to spend our MLE on people like Luscious Harris, instead.

Hate... I'm joking around... don't you remember how badly I wanted the Knicks to get "the GLOVE" five years ago? Having said this, I'll be rooting against the Lakers every game... just like I have for years. They're looking more and more like the Yankees every day.

i don't think your rooting against the yankees and lakers are going to amount to much

but at least you have the Giants.

You heard it here first Giants win the Division and make it the Second round. from that point depending on matchups they can go all the way.

The God of war has spoken.

Hold on about Ewing. Perhaps we didn't make the best decisions with the Ewing trade, but he was forcing our hand, demanding a trade.

The Knicks came home w/ Knight/Rice/Longley. Had Rice and Longley not gotten hurt, we would have fielded an excellent team. Longley's big body, great hands, and super passing would have given us the inside balance we needed. Unfortunately, he suffered a career ending injury. LJ's rapid demise (and retirement) also caught us off guard. Suddenly we lost what would amount to two starters on the team to injury/retirement.

Without them, we had no inside presence. Throw in Camby's propensity to be get hurt, and we were toast.

Rice wasn't working out at all--- so we picked up a starting PG (Eisley) and our 6th man (Anderson).

It's not so much that Layden sucks, it's just that he's gotta play the hand that he was dealt.

Last year's move in retrospect (because McDyess got hurt!) was bad--- but as a result, we have the potential of Vranes/Lampe. If McDyess ever comes back... we'll have a monster team. If not, we'll just have cleared out 20 Mil in cap room if we let him go at the end of the season.

Comments like this absolutely drive me CRAZY!! He DEMANDED a trade!! Who gives a **** what 16 million dollar a year Ewing DEMANDED? You think Red Auerbach would have given a D**N? Of course not... what's best for the TEAM should be all that matters... Layden is WEAK in addition to being stupid, short sighted and incompetent.

naw nec i cant imagine a knick Gm with that foresight. I will prolly watch five knick games all year, if lampe doesnt pan out.

Seetney aint enough, good player and all but if he is your starting power foward or center you suck.Malik Rose is better and he is a bench player, nuff said.

but i will have to do something i said i never would, but the nba package
I will be watching phoenix, cleveland,la,and dallas games and if SA gets Jourmana Kidd i will watch them too.
