What do you think about that possibility--trading Lee for another high pick?

what do you consider a high pick
and what teams with high picks would give it up for lee

I think up to 7-8 region maximum. If I could have pick 2 and pick 5 and give up Lee--i do it. Why? I can pick 2 guys I can build around. 2 guys that fit into a team concept for the long term and play the guys here or slowly diverge myself of them as I change the salary structure and more importantly the atmosphere of the team. David Lee is a great player and you have to give to get. Were not going anywhere with Randolpoh Lee Curry.
So therefore you get rid of Lee?!?!?!

It's not like you can get anything for Randolph or Curry. It's also not really getting "rid" of Lee if you get back the #7 pick in the draft. Curry and Randolph will in time be gone too, but at this point it makes more sense to just get what we can out of Lee since this team isn't going anywhere with or without him in the next 3 or 4 years.

Lottery I know last year Memphis wanted to trade the 4th pick for Lee. How many guys after pick 5 has put up the numbers Lee has? You know what your getting with him and you have no idea what your getting with the draft picks

True, but you can't build for now and the future at the same time. Honestly, If we could trade Lee for the #4 this year, I'd do that. Combining two lotto picks that will both hopefully grow into quality NBA players while trimming salary, would seem to be a higher priority to me than trying to add a lotto pick to this team. I don't see how the latter makes the Knicks better next season or beyond.

If we're going to have to blow our capspace to sign Lee to an outrageous 5yr 40mil contract that then hinders us from signing a MAX FA then by all means trade him for a guaranteed rookie-wage salary. Especially if you can use that pick to draft a shotblocker/defender.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

I'd waive the garbage and keep the good players. How many previous #7 picks would you trade Lee for?

Randy Foye
Charlie Villanueva
Luol Deng
Kirk Hinrich
Nene Hilario

So with those odds you have a 30% chance of getting a better player than Lee with that pick. The knicks need to go the safe route.

At the end of the day the realization of a complete rebuild of this horrid organization makes most sense. You still have enough good players and use of the MLE to keep competitive while building underneath[the way the Lakers did it] Paying David lee 40-50mm$ doesnt make sense. Better off rebuilding a team in a certain mold while letting contracts run dry--if you start paying guys 9-10 mm each-- wont work.

if it is for a top 10 pick and thabeet is still on board. I would have to consider that.... But the goal this summer should be clearing out eddy or zach or both..

agreed.

Foye and Brewer are basically borderline. They're giving you about 10 and 3. Among those 8, I'd say 5 "no"s, 1 "yes" (Deng), and 2 "maybe"s. That's bad odds!

You know what you get with David if Zeke is doing the draft you may get another Frye for Lee. Noticed everyone that have put in front of Lee he usually beats them out.

If Thabeet is there, I'd definitely trade Lee for a shot at a legit defensive center.

I understand and appreciate that we all have our own opinions, but are you being serious about trading Lee for Hinrich?!?

I would trade Lee definitley if he could net the Knicks a top 10 pick. To me the goal of this draft is to get the superstar. Beasley is the target and the next target is the PG position Bayless is the target. I like Thabeet but the Knicks most pressing need is a flooor leader I think Bayless might be that guy. I don't hink Curry is going anywhere so we a re stuck with him. So a trade of Randolph for a player and a mid firt round pick would be another ideal move. Maybe in the late teens or early twentys pick. With which I would target Jason Thompson he is athletic shot blocker/rebounder a lot like Shawn Wiliams on the Nets. From this draft it would be a good draft if the Knicks walked away with these players.

Beasley
Bayless
Thompson

Knicks would lose Lee and Randolph in this process and possibly players like Balkman, Chandler and Nate too but it would be moves in the right direction for the organization.

We're gonna be trading down (getting a worse pick than we give up) if we're asking a team to take Zach. Actually, we won't be getting any pick period for him. Only one GM was dumb enough to even give up Frye and Francis for Zach and we can't trade with that GM!

Who said Lee deserves a little more than Varajevo I am fine with that. He got 6 and lee is at least 2 million a year better than him. One averaged 6 and 6 and one a double-double those two arent on the same level.
What do you think about that possibility--trading Lee for another high pick?
