Are people serious it was a hard foul end of story the league needs some more hard fouls. The only hard fouls I have a problem is when a guy is on a breakaway and someone just comes out of nowhere and totally wipes him out other then that some of these fouls may have caused damage but not malicious in nature so to me its not a big deal.

I'm assuming you don't play in a rough men's league and thus can't picture yourself in this situation and possibly never playing again.

Dirks wasn't intentional.

Some get suspended and some don't. It depends on the moment, the degree of the heat of battle and how the refs see it. Happens all the time. Also reputation plays a part in it. Some poeple are known to do it and some people don't get into that kind of stuff. Look at Bowen for instance. He's got a bad reputation. Hell' even our own Collins has a mark on him now, because of what happened against the Nuggest.

But on the Balkman foul, I will consider the suspension took place because of the hard elbow, intentional or not. You have to factor in also, Balks got a little rep now, because remember when he hit Lebron across the upper body, after James 'clearly' beat him to the basket? That' was intentional and when you hit someone like that' a legit name in the NBA you get a rep for it. I bet you Balk got suspended to make him think about taking this kind of thing to another level. Just an observation.
I'll never trust this' team again.

I've been clothelined, elbowed in the head, knocked into the scorer's table, etc. I'm not a big beefy girl so I've been hit by girls heavier, stronger, taller its apart of the game like I said if its a blantant play where its clearly malicious I don't want to see anyone hurt over a play but hard hits are going to happen in a contact sport.

Over twenty plus years, the many times I've gotten hit in the head and upended in mid air, I am very lucky to have escaped with all limbs intact. Ironically, well after I finished playing basketball, I go and break a bone in my foot walking down some stairs. Go figure.
I'll never trust this' team again.

Dirk didn't mean to do it.....he still didn't apologize....at least I didn't see it. If I did it and I knew it was not intentional. I would have been all over AK-$& trying to let him know that that was not my intent to hurt him....

AK-47 is a good guy. He just took it. I woulda been on fire! As soon as I hit the free throw I woulda been chatting with him. The decision woulda been made in 2 seconds whether to let it go or throw a haymaker.

Where are the Oakley's of the league? come on man....Boozer or whoever was in that game should have at the very least yoked up Dirks jersey. No need to fight but he needed to be stepped to for that.

consider that these two guys are from other countries and people in other countries don't react the same way we americans do. Although, I don't like the way Americans act most of the time either. So I guess, don't expect punches to be thrown. They both understand the physical abuses and vulnerability that exist in this sport. Good for them and good none of our guys over reacted to it. That's the way it should be.

That's why I don't like hype and stupid attitudes in sports. It leads to emotinal zealousness and sooner or later someone gets hurt over it. Bring your best and if it's short, be prepared to congratulate the opponent.
I'll never trust this' team again.

This should satisfy everyone.

DALLAS (AP) -Dirk Nowitzki was suspended without pay for one game by the NBA on Wednesday for his hard foul on Utah's Andrei Kirilenko.
Nowitzki will miss the Dallas Mavericks' next game, at home Thursday night against the divisional rival Houston Rockets, who recently passed them in the tight Western Conference standings.

Nowitzki received a flagrant-1 when he hit Kirilenko midway through the first quarter of a 116-110 loss to Utah on Monday. However, the league reviewed the play and decided to upgrade it to a flagrant-2. Had it been ruled a flagrant-2 at the time he would've been ejected.

Kirilenko injured his right hip in the fall and stayed down for several minutes before getting up gingerly. He made both foul shots before being helped to the locker room. He was taken for X-rays, which showed no break.
I'll never trust this' team again.

He seem to do it on purpose, he wasn't afraid of AK-47 retaliating this is the only reason why he did it.

Let Dirk do that move on Boozer or Milsap and it would have been ON !
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

you know that's pretty funny. when a white player decides to go head-hunting he goes and looks for another white guy to do it to.

one of the all-time great ones was when mchale did it to rambis during the finals. turned the series around and the celts took it.

I guess by that reasoning Dirk better look out for Renaldo next time they meet!
