MIAMI, Aug. 8 (UPI) -- The Miami Heat Friday added depth to their frontcourt by signing free agents center Loren Woods and forward John Wallace.
The 6-10 Wallace returns to the NBA after spending the 2002-03 season in Greece. During the FIBA Champions Cup, he averaged 15.0 points and 3.3 rebounds per contest. Most recently, Wallace played five games for the Minnesota Timberwolves entry in the summer league in Orlando and averaged 14.2 points and 5.0 rebounds in 25 minutes per game.
The first-round pick of the New York Knicks in 1996 has also played for Toronto (1997-99), Detroit (2000-01), and Phoenix (2001-02), averaging 8.0 points and 2.9 rebounds while shooting 46 percent from the field. OH my, we gotta face him in our division now ut oh!

Wallace, who averaged 14 points and 4.5 rebounds his second season in Toronto before being buried behind Tracy McGrady and Vince Carter, resurfaced with the Timberwolves at the Orlando summer league, where in five games he averaged 14.2 points and five rebounds in 25.2 minutes.
He also had stints with the Suns, Pistons and two stays with the Knicks (who drafted him), where he played under Riley disciple Jeff Van Gundy.
"I guess Pat spoke to Jeff to see what kind of person I was as a player and a practice player, and if I was one who would come in and work hard regardless of whether I'm playing or not," said Wallace, 29. "Obviously, Van Gundy gave him the OK." John Wallace and Loren Woods will be improved players this yr for the Heat. Woods is up to 260lb at 7'0 from being a string bean.
