Spree has the kind of fire and heart that we need. Houston is too damn soft to be getting 100 Million anyway. If Spree were playing the 2 spot like he is SUPPOSED to, this slump would have never occurred. If Allan was playing the 3 all this time, I betcha he would not have gotten that damn contract either!

Back the hell on up with all that hating on Sprewell. None of you hating on him now had a goddamn thing to say last year, or the year before that.

Spreewell is a better 2 that Houston. Spree plays defense, he could score, he can shoot, and given the chance he can lead a team.

But because of the way he was treated by this team since the day he arrived, why would he want to? He's second fiddle to a man who he knows and the world knows is not worth the money he is getting. He is treated by managment as a scapegoat to the problems of the team when we all know why the team suffers. And most importantly, he is being wasted by having to play out of position against much larger assignments.

Of course everyone thinks he sucks, he can't play or the like. HE IS PLAYING AGAINST PEOPLE WHO HAVE MOST LIKELY PLAYED A CAREER AT THE POSITION HE HAS ONLY STARTED PLAYING FOR A FEW YEARS!!!

And despite all that, including a hand injury, verbal abuse from morons like some on this thread who trash him without warrant, etc, who was the man that Van Gundy gave the ball to in '99 when the entire hopes of the New York Knicks team rested on one shot?

It sure as hell wasn't Allan Houston, that's for sure. It was Latrell Spreewell.

Houston is overpaid trash. And don't worry about Spreewell. After next season, he'll be gone like the rest of the talent the Knicks squandered away, contributing his positive minutes to another team and most likely helping them win a championship, like he attempted to do with the Knicks.

As for Allan Houston, he will be the big fish in the small pond as always, trying to convince the world that he is the Kobe of the East, while getting beat defensively by the likes of Jerry Stackhouse, Eddie Jones, Richard Hamilton and Jalen Rose. All players, btw, that the Knicks tried to get to offset the "skills" of Allen Houston. More like replace if you ask me.

Mewell production has decreased every yr since the 99 finals run , while Houston's has increased and you talking about production. Houston is a team player who benefits the knicks on and off the court, Mewell all he use to do is get some fans happy with his end to end dunks, but if you notice he has shut that act down almost completley as age has crept in and Shandon Anderson has had more of an impact lately with end to end dunking! The knicks gave that sucker a chance to redeem himself after acting a fool on the left coast in GoldenState he owes them(NY) as much as anybody . His judgement is usually questioned when the game is close and he tries to imitate Houston at the end of the games by taking a big shot and then putting his head down when he fails. The fool is in competition with his own Captain ALLAN HOUSTON, this is where he gets the term "MEWELL". He needs to come off the bench(6TH MAN) like he did back in the day(99) if he stays with the team this yr, isn't this when he was most productive backing up ALLAN HOUSTON.

It's ok. Keep thinking like that. Soon, he will be gone and your song will change.

NEVER.....NEVER....did I criticize(sp?) Patrick when he was here. I was one of the few fans who didn't. Meanwhile, the papers, the talk radio shows, and of course the ignorant fan called for Ewing's head. What happens?

We trade him away, and have never had a decent pure center since.

Soon, history will repeat itself again. Spreewell's contract will expire, and he'll leave. Or he will get traded away for another talent that Allan is jealous of because it takes away from his convuluted spotlight. And all Knicks fans like yourself will rejoice for the summer.

Then, come October 2004 (barring a miracle), the reality will sink in: Who is going to play the 3 with the same heart and effort (though he may have failed at times b/c of being out of position, you can't tell me that he didn't sure as hell try) as Spree?

Don't look at Allan. He won't move unless you give him a 220 million dollar contract. But I bet he will sure as hell help Spree pack his bags, drive him to the airport and wave to his plane as it taxies out of JFK. Why? Because that emotional midget thinks that Spree is the cause of his failures.

Just wait, because once he's gone, the TRUE failures will begin. Come the 2005 draft (once again, barring a miracle) we will have the one of the top 3 picks. All because we put our hopes on the wrong horse.
