create UltimateNets.com

That wouldn't be original. I'm not a Webmaster nor do I want to depend on one to maintain the site, then there's funding, support, and moderating. I'm sure it can be a lot of work at times.

How would we have simultaneous discussions without taking away from this board? I was thinking of something where we could keep everything here. Andrew and Martin may not like it but I think it would be fun at least for a yr or two. Both teams during this time will be searching for an identity and it will be interesting to see who'll fair better two yrs from now.

It doesn't make sense to me. If you dont want to talk Knicks, then go find another website to talk about the team you want to talk about. This is a Knicks website meant for Knicks fans. Sure times are tough but that doesnt mean you start eating cheetos and talkin Nets, Heat, Raptors, or whoever else on a regular basis.

The intent was for entertainment purposes between us amongst the board. It wasn't for us to drop the Knicks completely off the radar for an eternity, hence the 1-2yr time frame living the rivalry on this board.

I assumed this was going to be the response or general feeling. No biggie.

Make no mistake about it though there are a lot of fans who are fans not by choice but via other circumstances such as tradition and geographics.

I cant believe a true Knicks fan could ever even entertain the idea of rooting for the Nets.

me neither... it's sorta like Yankees fans rooting for the Mets & vice versa... i just don't get the mentality there, but to each his own.

totally agree. I root for the name on the front not on the back. Regardless of how inept this franchise has been over the years, I just can't switch allegiances.

Amen. Never understood how anyone could root for another team

Its them young kiddies. You know the ones... they were wearing Bulls jackets in the 90s.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

Those people are weak. Nobody forces them to root for the KNicks because of tradition or geography.

The better questtion is, how can any Knick fan CONTINUE to suuport this franchise when there is no hope in sight? Sad that there will always be people like Earl who get excited every summer and expect Playoffs with these loser players.

how do Cubs fans continue to support their team through over 100 years of complete ineptitude? that's what's being a fan is all about... being loyal to the team you root for & keeping hope alive that it'll all be rewarded some day w/a championship... otherwise you're just a casual fan if you ask me.

Casual fans who root for the team of the moment. Like all those NYers rooting for the Bulls back in the day. Young punks.

ULTIMATENYCBASKETBALL!!!!!!

Yes, it was one thing to root for Louie orr, Cummings, Truck, Campy, Rory, etc, but like said previously this is differnt.

They were the knicks, and still our team. This group is really sickening and management has kept making it worse.

I admire the Nets whom have been competitive for some time and are embarking on a rebuild. Not a blow up, a rebuild.

Being a fan is reading up and discussing with other fans.

Being out of town Its easy for me to be a bobcat fan as they are here, but I always rooted for the knicks my whole life. UK has fostered a much stronger following of late. During the "90's" I watched them compete on TV and while I have league pass, I stopped watching. If not for UK I would stop caring. SO in a sense being "familure" keeps me a fan, and if I stoped, or went elsewhere perhaps I could root for them.

WHy??

Im from Brooklyn, and once upon a time the Nets played on long Island and I went to the games when we moved out there. I have been to more Net games in my life then Knick games. I Must have seen Dr. J play about 100 games and watched them on TV a lot. I loved the ABA!!! Two dollar seats and us kids by the 4th quarter would be sitting courtside, or on the press table! I remember shooting baskets with Rich Jones and Mike Gale in early warm ups!!!!

SO I have a history with them also. I could change. The only thing interesting about this team is the legal stuff.

I live in Boston and all the teams are doing well. When the Seahawks were bounced I tried to root for the Pats. When the Mariners were eliminated from contention I tried to root for the Redsox. This Basketball season I've gone to plenty of Celtics games and try to root for them. But win or lose the bottom line is that no matter how hard I try to root for these teams, I really don't care.

I only care about the teams that I grew up loving.
I just hope that people will like me

Are you kidding me Kam? You know how many fans are Knick fans because their dad took them to their first Knick game, or because MSG is 20min away from where they stay, or because the first game they ever watched on T.V. was a Knick game? It's not because they learned the game of basketball and then applied their likes of the game to the team that best represents those principles.

Take for instance if Seattle moves to OKC how many fans in the geographical area become Seattle Fans? What team are these fans currently supporting? Obviously it's a good thing economically/socially to support the local team. I'm not saying it's wrong to do this but I'm pointing out there really isn't a whole lot of meaning behind their support besides circumstance.

C'mon guys. You can't become Nets fans. You'd be missing:

Cap'n Zeke
First Mate Marbury
Anucha (The Wench)
The Pirates (Larry Brown, Scott Layden).

Man, there's no better show out there. How can you not be a Knicks fan?

I second that - 1994, 14th Birthday - first Knicks game against the C's (Bird was out with a bad back). We had Xman then and Rick Fox was a Celtic lol. It was love at first sight - been a die hard ever since.
