Derrick Rose is not an undersized SG.

I don't consider 6'3"-6'4" 195-200 all that big. It's a nice frame and definitley works in college but in the pros there are so many other 2's bigger and taller than him. And IMO he isn't a pure point so he'll probably see more time at the 2 vs the 1.

I think his implication was that Rose is a PG. I think that is TBD. I'm not fully convinced that Rose is an NBA PG yet. If you think Rose is an NBA PG, you take him #2, IMHO. If you think Rose is an NBA SG, I wouldn't take him higher than #5 or #6.

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

I've seen nothing from Derrick Rose that says he's an NBA SG.

Not sure but I'd take Thabeet over DeAndre Jordan.

From what I hear the Memphis offense is not necessarily the best way to judge his PG play/creativity because of how it functions. I've only seen a few minutes here and there of Memphis play so I may very well be wrong.

But it's sort of how Chandler was not able to shine as much with DePaul because they ran the Princeton offense.

I been saying this forever, thankyou.

Derrick Rose came to my school last night to play. Tulane's team is not good, but it isn't necessarily chopped liver either. But this game wasn't even close... the arena actually gave the boys a standing ovation because after getting blown out, well, they had no chance in hell of winning.

Anyway, I definitely came into the game with some biases... namely that I think Rose is going to be a high quality NBA player.

Things that stuck out to me:
* Rose looked like a college SF guarding a PG. He is thick and carries a lot of muscle as a freshman. I'm 6'4" and box... I have nothing on Rose.
* He can grab defensive rebounds in traffic and push the ball, kind of like Balkman if he had a jumper.
* Rose did not set up any plays. He was a point in transition, but really a generic guard in the half court set. All of Memphis' guys can go one-on-one.
* He missed some easy shots, as did his teammates, despite blowing Tulane out.
* There was one really pretty play where he went weakside a foot away from the rim and totally exploited the weak interior defense.

Cool. It seems that you are living it up over there. I think Rose is going be good in the league. He might be that Baron Davis player in the league with the ability to hit foul line shots.

Is that because that's what DraftExpress has as his worst case scenario?

here is an article on the dribble-drive offense memphis runs:

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/writers/grant_wahl/02/12/memphis0218/

i agree its not a good barometer to see how true of a PG rose is. dude is a stud though, i'd rank the top 3:
beasley
rose
gordon

do you think hes better than gordan

No doubt.

I saw Rose play earlier this year too at the Coaches vs Cancer tournament at MSG vs UConn. I came away with alot of the same feelings that Supreme has.

Rose is a big PG and right now his PG skills are limited due to the type of offense that Calipari runs down there. He has shown flashes this year that he DOES have the ability to run a half-court offense in the pros, and do so very well. This is in addition to the fact that that he's very good at running a up-tempo offense. He's a very good and very creative passer, often time getting the ball to guys when you don't think he can. I don't know about his ability to make an entry-pass since post-ups play almost no part in Memphis offense.

His mid-range game right now is probably a "B" average, but his ability to get to the hoop is "A+", easily his best attribute, while his 3point game is probably a "C" average, I think this will only improve. His ability to slash and take his man off the dribble is his best attribute offensively though. His defense is only average but he has the ability to be a very good defender in the NBA because of quickness and his physical attributes against opposing PG's.

I think he's going to be a top NBA Point-Guard for a loooooong time in the NBA.

dude he sucks!
I just hope that people will like me
