vmart you act like layden took sweetney first because he knew he would get lampe in the second round

that is why i said now i have seen it all

i do agree with you that this year's draft was a decent draft from a standpoint and that it won't be complete until all 3 picks are on a knicks roster

Sweetney was the safe pick. I'm just glad they din't take on Collison. Like I said I think Luck had a lot to do with the draft night for the Knicks. They got all their players they wanted.

We both got a good deal on draft night. Lampe was high on my list Sweetney was way higher than Collinson and Kaman for me was some where in between Lampe and Sweetney. I wanted Slavko because I think he is gonna be a defensive menace one day. Only way this draft would have been better is we had a top 4 pick.

Ok now which one of those draft picks are having the better summer league? KAMAN, SWEETNEY, LAMPE OR COLLISON? I say the "ROCKY MOUNTAIN REVUE" will be the last chance for these guys to put up or shut up.
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

You can say it was all luck, but the fact of the matter is Layden did more research on Lampe than at least 15 other teams (you have to factor in promises and trade deals). He was ready to pull the trigger when 21 other teams weren't, and being prepared like that on Draft Night goes a long way in evaluating a GM's performance.

There's no denying Layden poured in a Top 4 GM performance on Draft Night, behind only (through no fault his own) Detroit, Cleveland, and Denver.
go knicks!

yeah we know like he pulled a top GM performance last year with getting mcdyess on draft night. can you wait until sweetney lamp and vranes are eastern conference all-stars before you start sending layden love letters. can you do that for me sir

Hahahaa I hear ya on that one! Scott LayDown gets NO props for those picks- he finally did what he's supposed to do.

It's a damn shame when our GM makes a basic move and gets props from fans that have seem him do bad for so long, that doing something routine is seen as a stroke of genius (taking the best players available in the draft is standard business).
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

That answer is all too easy...

No one screws up a major market franchise like Scott LayDown. Other GMs can get a pass because every other move they make does not seem to be a mistake. BTW, LayDown was one of those GMs who passed over those two players as well. For what?? McDyess and that damned knee.

Hardcore, you are my kind of knicks fan...honest, smart and a hater of all things Scott Layden.

Layden does not get a pass for all the crap he's pulled in the past b/c of a lucky draft. It all begins and ends once again with Allan "Heartless and Soft" Houston. Then the rest is history.

EDIT: Ok, I didn't mean to spam, but the forum posted like 4 versons of my post. DON'T KICK ME OFF!!! The damn thing went on the fritz.
