^Use a period. Run-on sentences are a no go.

As for this situation, unbelievable.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

Geiger is the reason Larry Brown couldn't trahe AI to the HEAT bc he blocked the deal. Then later he winds up as AI's teammate in Philly.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

Devean George blocks it with his one year contract...too funny.

But Dallas giving 2 first round draft picks is scary.

Two first round draft picks is scary, but they likely will be something like #26-28 and #30. Think of it similar to when we got two picks along with Malik Rose... those are almost second rounders. The only scary part is that they gave up Diop. I think he's the one player they really needed to keep. Seems like they were going to get Stackhouse back, at least.

Anyway, if this is true, terrible news for Dallas.

Diop, Harris and two first rd picks for a 35 year old player.

Don't get me wrong, Kidd will make them better short term, but they get much older and then really hamper their ability to reload afterwards. There is no safety net.

I must be the only person alive that thinks this deal would have been a no-brainer for the Mavs. It give them the best top-three/four in the league. Kidd could beat the Lakers by himself and equalizes the Mavs with the Suns. We all saw how disgustingly awesome Kidd was in the Olympics... I'd rather have Kidd now than two David-Lee-types and Harris, when the team already has Dirk and Howard (and Terry).

Well I have to confess I've never been a Dallas fan or believer. I think they had to do this kind of deal just to keep pace with the second tier teams, like the Warriors and Jazz. But the hang-up for me is just how much youth they're giving up for just how much age. It's not like Kidd is 30. I don't know, I don't see Dallas winning the thing in the next two years and I don't see their fans being happy with their situation after that.

The trade would absolutely make them better in the short term, it's what comes next that gives me pause.

But for those of you who think the deal makes them favorites it naturally makes sense. I'm just not one of them.

I don't necessarily have them as "favorites," but they remind of the Detroit teams a couple years after they won their championship.... where they weren't as highly regarded as they were previously, but had won a championship. I'm one of those people who blamed the refs for Miami "winning" the championship and thought Dallas would have if not for a series of outrageous calls, which happened to coincide with the Donaghy scandal.

Anyway, I think Kidd becomes their best player. The Mavs are in a position to improve now, whereas I really do not think they have a chance as Bynum improves. The Lakers are a Bynum/Farmar leap away from becoming a dynasty... The Suns are a better playoff team now... the Celtics have their big three... and Kidd is the perfect matchup against all these teams. The Pistons are the only team where acquiring Kidd hurts because of the diminished depth.

Devean George is a ****in joke. First of all, he requested a trade a few weeks ago... who requests a trade from a WINNING basketball team, let alone the Mavs, one of the best run franchises in the NBA. Second of all, the ****ing prick gets his wish and then he blocks the god damn trade! What a loser, I swear to god.

Why are so many of you trashing Devan George ?

This is a freakin business for these ball players too, not just the owners.

Look how much leverage a mini-roleplayer has manipulated with a savy agent who put the no-trade claus in his clients contract.

I give Devean George a ^5 for getting his $$$$$ and preparing for his future after basketball.

Screw J Kidd unless I get paid too!
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

George's "early Bird rights," which come from being on his second one-year deal, mainly give him a chance to sign his next contract for more than the salary cap allows. However, he's unlikely to command that much anyway. Another benefit is the veto power that's also part of those rights, as per the NBA's collective bargaining agreement.

George is total garbage.

He will never get paid MLE money let alone more than MLE money. Therefore there is no reason he should be worried about his birds rights.

He also demanded to be traded what a month ago?

He also has a trade kicker meaning he would make more money than he ever could just by accepting the trade.

He is an idiot, a clown, and an ugly looking mofo.

I also would find it ludicrous if the Nets and Mavs would allow a salary throw in to completely ruin a Kidd trade. Why would they?

"Oh well no deaven george then NO TRADE!"

LOL...yeah right.

FYI: Only George played last night the other principle players sat the game out. The trade is still being worked on.

Even leaving aside the issue of the money, if George has a no-trade clause, then (duh) he is completely within his rights to say no to a trade.

The more interesting issue is why anyone would have agreed to him having such a clause in the first place.

It wasn't negotiated in by his agent. Its a rule of the Collective Bargaining Agreement due to his signing successive 1 year contracts.

Good call. George is not a big money earner in the exaggerated big dollas' NBA sphere. This is probably his one and only chance to use the proverbial hammer. How could anybody criticize him? He owes more to whiny, NBA fans who want to see what Kidd and Novitizki can do together, than to his family? If the Mavs want the deal, their gonna have to go through George. The little guy wins for once.
