This is a great move for Dallas if it goes down. I dont believe they can win the "Chip" as currently constructed. Similar to Phoenix, they are going all in.

They aint giving up much besides Harris is a bit overrated by some. And they way Kidd is playing, he could still go another 2 yrs at least at this speed baring any injuries.

I always thought that Diop and JStack were integral parts of their bench. I wouldn't give them + Harris up for Kidd.

agree. panic trade

How is this a panic move? Word is, the Nets are going to buy out Stacks contract allowing him to possibly return to Dallas. And I highly doubt that Diop is the missing link to a title run.

Kidd and Malik Allen
for
Devin Harris/Jerry Stackhouse/Diop(expiring)/Devean George(expiring)/Maurice Ager(expring)/future draft considerations.

I like this from the Nets standpoint. They get a good young PG in return and capspace.. if they can find a way to deal Carter they are going to be in great position for bringing in a big player when the move to Brooklyn.

if its just Kidd they lose a lot of depth and Kidd Howard Dirk Damp with Terry kicking on paper don't look like a royal flush

that team before the Kidd trade, didn't look so hot on paper or on the court lately. They have been very lethargic lately. There is no way they win a championship if they just stood pat. Similar to Phoenix, that team kind of ran its course and wasn't going to win a Chip as they were currently constructed. So the GM's for each team went all in while the window is slightly ajar. Can't fault either Dallas or Phoenix for the move they made.

I think Dallas should bring back Jimmy Jackson, Jamal Mashburn and Toni Braxton to solidify their bench.

point taken. I guess the other side to this is if it fails again Dirk will bring back plenty to rebuild with in a trade.

I imagine this is done because Dallas has a TE available, not sure what the dollar amount is but I'm guessing it's enough to absorb Antoine's salary outright. This way they essentially sign him as a FA without giving up a player or sacrificing any cash only trading a 2nd round pick, which should be fairly low in value.

If the trade goes as its being said, I think Dallas will be hammered in the paint very badly unless Dampier becomes a beast. Howard, Dirk and Kidd and even Terry are awesome to have on the same team, but I dont like their chances very much considering the rest of their roster. They should have retained Diop... look at their "big" men.
The difference between this trade or the Suns trades and the Lakers one is that Dallas and Phoenix have put themselves in a position where everything that is not a championship THIS year will make the trade look bad. The Lakers have 3 or more years to achieve it.

they also get malik allen, so the mavs will have allen and terry off the bench.. Jason kidd is a defender and ball mover, plus a big rebounder.. panic move? not really, the mavs window is closing, they went all out for it. I admire that..

Ok heres the question now. Now that Kidd is going to Dallas.. does he play for the East or West in the All-Star game and if he does play for the East, does he still wear a Nets jersey?
