Still not impressed.

Put me on a 9 foot hoop and I can tear the rim down with my amazing ability to "fly". 6-10 and dunking with no defense doesn't impress me no matter how well the NBA has been able to package it over the years. In all of sports once again it is one of the least impressive feats. I'm simply not impressed.

I've stood with these guys. They reach up and their hands go half way up the net flat footed. Then they dunk with no one guarding them and they talk trash about it. As a short guy, with a competitive edge I was never impressed. You want to impress me, raise the hoop to 12 feet and then do those things.

If YAO Ming had hang time would be amazing going baseline and flying thru the air stretching out dunking backwards.

I agree, and that's why most people get excited. But since I know that most of these guys aren't jumping any higher than guys in my local park, and there are no defenders, I'm just bored with it.

Some of the best dunkers we have seen in the competition have been over 6'6. Kemp, Nique, Howards sticker dunk and the one he completed a few mins ago, Nance, etc.....

Dwight Howard didn't actually dunk that. :?

What was so great about Dwight's final dunk? That just seemed like an easier alley-oop dunk (easier because he didn't have to catch the ball mid-air).

that wasn't even a dunk on the Superman one... he threw the ball into the basket cuz he came up short... that was an awesome idea but i thought he didn't deserve that 50 for that one... Actually, I think you can consider that a dunk. I did a little search on Google about what constitutes a dunk (I checked Wikipedia first - I'll see if I can find it in a rule book) and found this:

A slam dunk (or simply a dunk) is a type of basketball shot that is performed when a player jumps in the air and manually powers the ball downward through the basket with one or both of his hands. This is a standard field goal worth two points. There is one component required for this particular "field goal" to be classified as a "dunk": 1) the ball must be thrown into the basketball net in a downward motion where both the ball and player's hand(s) are both above the basketball rim. The term "slam dunk" was first coined by the late Los Angeles Lakers announcer Chick Hearn.[1]

So according to this, that was a dunk. He literally "threw it down". Doesn't say anything about touching the rim.
