but most of all

For people like 4949 to understand the content of one's character (or ability to hit the open man) has absolutely nothing to do with the color of his skin, or his eyes

David Lee is by far our best player... so I guess we should only have white players on this team

FrenchKnicks - excellent point. (?) But being the best player on a team which is closer to the lottery than the playoffs is like being the smartest kid on the short bus.

David Lee's complexion was not the reason he won the HS Slam Dunk contest

or was it?

My Five

A reasonable facsimile of Jose Calderon backed by a reasonable facsimile of Dean Meminger
Jamal B Free and a reasonable facsimile of Dick Barnett
Renaldo Balkman with Bobby Dandridge's j and Wilson Chandler with confidence
David Lee and Serge Ibaka (Congo)
Brook Lopez and Randolph Morris

once a knick always a knick

The Michael Jordan Chicago Bulls did it. The Tim Duncan San Antonio Spurs are doing it. The old two Knicks championship teams had a good mix of people also. Why can't we do it now, ourselves? I beleive when you have a team like that, it brings the best out of everyone. The Dallas Mavericks are competing every year with a team with variety. The Phonix Suns are another example.

I'd say that close to half of the NBA championship teams through the years have had a good balance of variety on their teams and did just as well as those other teams, with the same race of men on it. Come on guys, what do you think? It's time!!!

The Knicks had white guys on those two teams? Chris Dudley is the only name that pops into my head, and the only thing I remember about him was that I never understood why he was a Knick

if i had my way this team would all be Asians

C - Yao Ming
PF - Yi Jianlian
SF - Lebron (i wish he were Asian)
SG - Kobe (his name sounds Asian)
PG - Chris Paul (he's too good not to be at least part Asian)

You forgot the GREAT Wang ZhiZhi.

he's my towel waiver

I don't think 4949 has any racism against the American blacks.
If he will - he would never want white or asian players on Knicks team.
He will want only black people to be embarrassed like this.
So the only think I can suspect with him - he has some problems with white and asian Americans

Best players period. Peja/Yao/Gasol/Miller/Nowitzki, Nash - can be starters on any NBA team. It's not about 'diversity' its about talent. I would hate to see - any continued discrimination in this day and age. There are a lot f latin players in baseball - not because they are latin but because they are better/work harder on their game. Look at the french players - Parker/ Diaw etc- its not about where your from - its about how good your game is-

I am so tired of the KVH, Shuan Bradley/ Austin croshere lovers-

Well, short of sounding like a racist, I look at this team and it's just about all black and I see no players with a good game here. So isn't it worth while to try something different here? I mean sometimes you really do need 'diversity' to make something good happen. I think it's a fair view.

Its all about perspective. From your warped perspective this might sound fair but to me, you are really toeing the racist line. There should not be a quota on how many european players should be mandated to wear a Knick uniform. Ny is known as the melting pot but that doesn't mean we have to have a team reflect the various colors of the rainbow on our team. If thats the case, should the NBA mandate that half of the Utah Jazz be mormon?

This is a ridiculous notion on your part. Bottom line, Knicks need to figure a way to get the most talented pg they can find. It shouldn't matter what the pg backgorund is, as long as he fills a need.

And for you to say that when you look at this team, all you see is black....well....welcome to the NBA. And fr you to also mention that these black players dont have a good game, and they are lazy on defense really rubs me the wrong way. Not sure if you meant it that way but its the way I recieved it. Perspective.

Funny, but as soon as I sound like I'm attacking color here, suddenly I have a warped mind. And how' many times have I heard people say here that we have no defense, even as far as saying lazy defense? I had to think about what I was trying to say, in the way it was going to come out. This is the problem: You almost can't mention it, because of color. On the subject of most of the NBA being black, that's no surprise at all. I have cited several teams winning championships, being of mixed races, and I will equally do the same for dominate black teams. Lakers & Pistons. Even though the Pistons had Lambier in the middle and the Lakers with Rambis as a sixth man, clearly the team where dominately black.

There's nothing wrong with that, either way. I don't mean to rub anyone the wrong way on this subject. I always believe when you have a 'team' and if that team' is not doing very well, then these subjects tend to come up from time to time. Let's not pretend there is no color here. If you talk about it, and I"m not afriad to talk about it, for those of you who know me, then talk about it in the most reasonable way that you can. I hope this takes some of the warpness off of it. This is the way I tried to bring up the subject. I hope it doesn't just get pushed to the side.

I think we gave this Isiah project more' than enough time to prove itself and frankly, it's really getting pretty old. I'd like to take the opportunity to quote Obama: We need REAL change, and not' the same old politics as usual! Nuff said.
I'll never trust this' team again.

Yeah, yeah. Suddenly I'm popular to talk to again. We need more variety to begin with. I'd like someone to explain to me why we do not? Yes? Well? If you folks don't care about color then tell me why we don't' need other skins on this team? It's legitimate question, non insulting.
I'll never trust this' team again.

And one more thing. I have spoken well of many black players, so think about what you call me, before you call me anything. You know who you are.

4949, it comes across pretty clearly that you’re proposing that the team should add non-black players in order to improve. that's why you’re getting dissed in the responses to you.

the team needs better players and better chemistry through its composition. isiah could just as easily starphuch and mess this team up by overpaying for the wrong euros on the team. the problem is the way he put the team together and the way he leads it.

calling the problem the number of black players on the team is an ignorant statement. you can keep trying to defend it but it really doesn’t wash.

Well Marv, I guess it's out there now, right? You didn't even bother to answer the questoin of why we don't have other players. You just went straight for the throat, without any thought to what I'm talking about. I think it's important to talk about.

Damn right we need better players and chemistry. We can all agress on that one, but what's wrong with my proposal? And I was getting dissed loooooooooong before anything like this came up. I'm honest and most people can't face the truth. That's' why I'm getting dissed!

If you find me a black owner, a black coach, a black GM and all black players who can successfully bring us championships, then I would be the first to say I love this team. I never, never said anything about getting rid of the black players. I merely said we need more variety. The whole world knows what I'm saying and a few of you are trying to make me look wrong.

And Marv, I wasn't the only one to say we need diversity on this team. I'd be pretty stupid not' to birng it up and even more stupid not to defend myself. You can't blame me for that.
I'll never trust this' team again.

All in all, it's on the table and I won't say anything else, because I've already spoke my peace. If you have any logical questions, then I'd be happy to hold a dialogue. Now what kind of ignorant person would do that???
I'll never trust this' team again.

and if they didn’t bring a championship, then the solution to their failure would be to bring in whites to try to win one?

if you’re trying to say that isiah has purposely excluded white players who would have helped us win, or bypassed better players in the draft because they were white, then you should make the specific case.

seems to me the names we’re most lamenting are andrew bynum, brandon roy, lamarcus aldridge, marcus willimas, josh boone, ty thomas, joakim noah, etc., etc., etc.

to make generalized statements about this team needing “diversity” due to its failures doesn’t possess any merits that I can see.

I cant wait to buy you a Charlotte Bobcats jersey!!! They have a Black Owner/GM/Coach & could probably put an all Black 5 on the floor.

P.S. - was your grandfather Adolph Rupp by any chance???

P.P.S. - I love how your only response to me is "you havent been here long enough....nyah, nyah, nyah" Dont confuse the number of your "posts" w/a decent sized B-Ball IQ

Who cares what color someone is. If they can guard, shoot the ball, and play unselfish I dont care the color, ethnicity. BTW Sam Vincent sucks as a coach lol

Agreed. I think this team needs diversity, but not in terms of race. This team has a bunch of players that replicate each other. The diversity needs to be in terms of what each player brings to the table, not where or how they learned to ball.
