initially i looked at this deal and said hell no

wally doesn't exactly get it done defensively..

but if you look at the contract lengths i might do it for that alone

Wally comes off the books after next season..Curry has a few more years..

Wonderful. Way to look below the face value!

a small part of me still believe

Eddy Curry has hope in the rebounding/defense department

Nate has come a long way as well

of course in the 2009/2010 season we could all still be looking at the same threads discussing why Curry has shown zero desire or ability to consistently rebound and defend.
Let's try to elevate the level of discourse in this byeetch. Please

Seattle Is Looking To Deal Szczerbiak
February 6, 2008 - 9:23 am
Pioneer Press -
Charley Walters of the Pioneer Press is reporting that the Seattle Supersonics are looking to deal Wally Szczerbiak before this month's trade deadline.

Szczerbiak is the team's highest paid player, and will make $25 million between this season and the next.RealGM

Incoming Players
Damien Wilkins
6-6 SG / SF from Georgia
9.2 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 2.1 apg in 24.8 minutes
Wally Szczerbiak
6-7 SF / SG from Miami-OH
13.2 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 1.4 apg in 23.6 minutes
Outgoing Players
Nate Robinson
5-9 PG from Washington
11.9 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 2.9 apg in 23.9 minutes
Malik Rose
6-7 PF from Drexel
1.8 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 0.4 apg in 9.3 minutes
Eddy Curry
6-11 C from Thornwood (HS)
14.0 ppg, 4.9 rpg, 0.5 apg in 26.6 minutes

for Wally i'd be willing to give up Chandler, Mardy, Malik & Jones (unless u could somehow unload Turd or Jefferies in the deal also)... none of those guys are doing much for us anyway & Wally's contract expires in a year same as Malik... i'd be OK with trading them Jamal or Curry & filler too just for the cap space, but definitely not Balkman, Lee or Nate.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

I am just not sold on Nate. I think he is a great bench player and that's about it.

He offers something we lack. Dependable outside shooting and is a starting quality SF or SG-once again something we lack.

What good is Wally Z going to do on our team right now though Joe? We have no shot at legitimately contending for the next few years which is about how much time Wally has left.

so..you guys would rather have

Eddy Curry:
9 Million Next Season
10 Million the season after that
11 million after that

off the books in 2011/2012 season.

or

Wally

13 million next season

off the books.

Wally we all know can shoot...and that's about it. Maybe he'll be a positive, veteran locker room presence?

Curry we all know can score in the post..and that's about it.

So the choice seems to be

a) take Wally, let him come off the books
b) keep Curry and hope he continues to develop. As I stated before..there might be a slight chance of that happening.

Knowing all this, is this trade still ridiculous?

b is a much better choice for one reason
we have two players at the sf position that would be good for the knicks if the coach had a brain
wally is just another has been that will take min awya from young guys who are not playing as it is

I didn't say that I wouldn't want to get rid of Curry, I was merely responding to Joe who was saying that Wally adds something we lack in shooting. He's right Wally does add that, but what good is his shooting going to do for us when we suck and being competitive is nowhere in sight.

since this trade isn't being discussed at all i guess it doesn't matter

if it were to happen, i wouldn't be sad about it. we've witnessed this current braintrust doing much worse.

if it doesn't happen. well..let's cross our fingers with Curry getting better.

I'm with Holfresh. The best thing this team can do is stop building on top of the current mess and start anew.

No Holfresh is with YOU and everyone else, who has been saying this for the past 2-3 years and inturn getting lambasted by guys like him for saying it.

Right, and you loved the Jared Jeffries signing....U will never live that one down...

so would i bro, but it doesn't seem like he's ever going to get any appreciable burn here in NY from the looks of it... i don't wanna see him wasting away on the bench... if we have to trade him to upgrade the SF position then i'm all for it... i just don't wanna give up Balk, Lee or Nate right now for a player like Wally.

All that matters to me is: Wally brings outside shooting. Wally is an upgrade at the SF spot(if Jamal is at the 2) or the 2 spot (if Jamal is at the 1). He is a FA after next year and won't command anything close to what he is getting now. And if we have him we'll get first crack at signing him to a decent contract.

I am not saying he is a savior. I am saying he is a piece we don't have. There is no problem with, IMO, getting players that have skills we lack with the carbon copy players we already have.

Atleast I've owned up to it.

If you wanna own up to the litany of your statements then we'll be here for a week straight with no breaks. We don't have to worry about that though, you never will.

Well in that case then, let me correct your assessment on my position...I was never one to support Starphucking, in fact, I have railed against it since posting here...If you remember my position correctly, I was proponent of building thru the draft and playing the kids....I was the guy who loved the idea of playing Frye and Lee at the position....Now that said, I like Zach and don't think he is the problem...Where my position has changed is in the support of Isiah...So your suggestion that I am now following your position or some one else's is well off base as usual...But you feel good thumping your own chest so go right ahead..Just don't feel free to cast my opinion for me...
