This guy has been putting up great point guard numbers while his play has been a controlled fury. The question isn't "is he good enough", cuz he is....... The Question is, do you want Nate Robinson as your starting point guard?
yes, focus on filling another spot
no, he doesn't take me to that happy place
I'd rather lose more games and pray to God the Knicks can get Derrick Rose no matter how much of a long shot that is

LB called him a espn highlight real ,does that equal a starter on a team vying for a cip ?

It's equal to a starter on a team with owner looking to transfer sport into trick-show.

The problem with our roster is that its full with players that would be excellent bench players but bad starters!!!!
Who would not want Crawford, Nate or Curry from the bench??? Each of them is nice to do their work on the offensive end. And what about Balkman/Lee??? Probably every NBA team would like to have one of them to give a plus of intensity and rebounding.
But Zach Randolph is the closest thing we have to be a solid starter in the league.

found the actual quote:
"Nate right now thinks he's a highlight reel," Brown said. "He's trying too hard, but he's going to be fine."

Larry was right about Nate back then but the dude just isn't the same player he was back then....

What i don't understand is why not Nate? He has been playing awesome basketball.....all i'm hearing is tons of excuses. You can't just blame it on the past or anything Larry "Doo Doo" Brown said 2 years ago.

I mean why is he just a sixth man? He just doesnt dominate second stringers....this is the NBA....I'm not on any NBA rosters so he's not dominating me.....watch games....the dude is taking on Monta Ellis and Baron and holding his own. He just dropped 22 and 8 on that ass....

Why not Nate?

Crap shooting for Derrick rose is not the way. The Knicks would have to lose every single game coming up to have a decent chance at the #1 pick. No honor in that.....

Anyway.....Nate is the freakin man....just except it. He is....you are not blind.

I love Nate but there are a couple of plays out of timeouts where Nate doesn't realize how much tick is left on the clock. He can set up players by breaking down his man and he is VERY good at getting to the rim or finding the open man in transition. Can Nate run an offense for 35-40 minutes a game? Can he defend first line PGs? Does he know when to run and when to play a half court game? Can he make Crawford, Curry, Randolph happy? I don't think he can do some of those last things.... yet.

Yet?

He's already making the players around him better with the pass. If anything hes just realizing how fast he is. His play in the half court is fine. He knocks down his open jumpers and he finds dudes for layups and dunks. He needs to get more run....if he can continue this play through the year i think Isiah should just crown him the pg. Compare him to guys like Lowry and Felton....he is on par with them.....why not Nate? Why Not?

I like to be the first on the bandwagon if I like a guy.....I also liked Shammond Williams.

Why Not Nate? you heard it here first

Yeah, just like the Knicks.

I like Nate's spirit, and he's been one of the bright spots this season IMO. He plays like he cares when some of the other guys seem to be just going through the motions.

However, I'd prefer a real point guard. I agree that he can be a great sixth man, which is not a bad thing at all.

20/9 against the Lakers.......1 turnover.

Knicks still lose but the guy is making a name for himself.

Deron is next TONIGHT!

But Nate's just a 6th man. All the ultimate knicks guys keep repeating it so its fact!

In all seriousness- this what I was trying to say in my post back on page 1- the guy keeps improving every night- 9 asts to 1 TO (I will update my January thread after the game tonight). What exactly are people seeing that suggests a ceiling is set on him coming off the bench and being limited? Starting to look like he's a playmaking guard. Maybe best off on an uptempo team- but guess what- with the exception of Curry and maybe Zach, a lot of the guys we have here are better suited to up tempo (Balkman, Lee, Crawford, Jeffries, even Richardson has thrived on that before).

We gotta play better D, but the Knicks can throw 10 guys out at you so why not go press?

The guy hasn't had a bad game in a long time. He's the Knicks most consistant player. Isiah is trying to bury the kid like he tried to do with Crawford in years past.

Nate needs to start and some other player needs to be the 6th man type.......which isn't a bad thing.

Eny, didn't see the game but I did read this from Berman's blog:

the Lakers outscored the Knicks, 29-9, to finish the game. The Knicks failed to get back on defense, failed to guard the 3-point line, allowed Sasha Vujacic to burn them for five 3-pointers. Kobe Bryant awoke from his first-half passiveness to make a few big shots, scoring 20 of his 24 points. Nate Robinson picked up a foolish technical after Vujacic fouled him. Robinson pushed him into the stanchion, then he got into it with Balkman, who was trying to calm Nate down.

"We kind of had a meltdown,'' Thomas said.

Nate, the PG leagder?

Des, Nate is playing great lately, theres no doubt about it, but it's not translating into anything but stat lines for him. Now I know you can say that he doesn't have great players around him and fine, if thats your argument thats cool and I'll agree with you but, I'm not convinced that Nate can lead a team and as PG in the league today, that is what you have to be able to do.

Theres no question Nate can ball in this league and be a very useful player, but I'm not so sure it's going to be as a starting PG - I tend to think it'll be as a 6th man.

I will gladly wait until the end of the year to fully judge Nate and where he can go as a player, I would love to see him evolve into a floor general and be a leader, but I'm not holding my breathe is all I'm saying.

I think we have clearly played better. We're not a winning team, but are we winning more and are we more competetive? Yes. There's no doubt about it. What I'm saying is that people are setting a ceiling for him and that doesn't make sense. He's getting better every game and this is really the first time he's asked to play PG. Players evolve. PG's get it done in different ways. I say lets be patient with him and give him the opportunity to do it untill he really proves it otherwise.

Vujacic had Nate by the arms and he pushed off a bit, that did not warrant a technical also Nate wanted to speak to Ref after the incident to get an explanation of the tech and Balkman was preventing him from doing so. Eventually Nate spoke to ref about the call and that was about it. That's what I saw in my opinion, Berman is just adding to the fodder.
