Right now the Nets have lost 9 in a row and are only a 1/2 game out of the 8th seed.

The nets are an interesting study...they are def starphucked, but have some young kids, but they are basically the same as the knicks as far as overall CURRENT talent and record.

At the present time, I take the Knicks future over the nets (other than them moving to brooklyn, and even that is up in the air).

But I'm a knick fan, so I'm completely biased.

Would have been something to win that game last night...mardy getting more and more used to his role...curry has got to learn to block shots and rebound!
Let's go Knicks. That's amare

Let me ask it this way. How excited would you be about your team's future if your football team made it to the playoffs with a 6-10 record?

DrAlphaeus: I hear what you are saying but I just happen to disagree with you. What would help more.

Scenario 1: Struggling all year long, winning 33 games, backing into the playoffs because the conference stinks.

Scenario 2: Coming together as a team. Winning 41 games and missing the playoffs because the competition was strong.

I personally would take a great impovement over the next 40 games that ends in disappointment, over backing in. NOw of course if we could get both, then we'd be talking.

You forgot Scenario 3:

Struggling all year long, Isiah gets fired, get a top 3 lottery pick and finally starting to rebuild this franchise under a competent GM.

... with absolutely no shot of winning in the first round.

How much good did making the playoffs do for our team when we made it 4yrs ago and got swept?

i just can't identify with Championship or lottery. Doesn't make any sense to why we play the games and why we root for teams.

The Kansas City Royals love their team no matter what...the Yankees have been out of the first round the last 3 years (off top of my head) and I'm still a Yankee fan and happy they made the playoffs.

Maybe the internet has given rise to a new breed of fan, feast or famine and nothing in between?

I'll take the playoffs and getting bounced in the first round, or maybe have a chance ala golden state last year beating the best team (by record) in the league.

You just have to believe that you have a chance once you make it to the dance.

regardless of the odds.

But that's just me.

sorry, you can now go back to your regularly scheduled hating.

8th seed means....Boston in the playoffs right?

Come on man......fighting and scrapin with those bastards....and possibly beating them? Wouldn't that be awesome?

If the Knicks continue to win more than the lose? Why not....Imagine if Isiah makes the perfect trade and the Knicks storm into the playoffs? It's a far fetched dream but so is getting Derrick Rose.

The Kansas City Royals have averaged about 1/3 less than the American League average in attendance over the last 10 years.

Great example.

It's better than his Yankees example!

Agreed. For him to make those comments must be drug-induced.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

That's the point. IF the team catches fire and storms into the playoffs of course it is exciting. But playing slightly better and sneaking in with a poor record isn't something that does us good. What I'm trying to say is I could care less about the playoffs at this point. I want them to finish the season playing better. We've seen this story before. Horrible start. Followed by solid play. Followed by talk of playoffs. Followed by a lapse at the end. It's time to change the pattern. Go in hot, or start thinking about the future. If we can't get hot, it's time to do what all poor teams do. Dust off Morris and Chandler and the rest of the young guys and let them play.

I want to see the team improve... period! If they make the playoffs while doing that I think that's great. If they don't really improve and get in only due to the other teams being worse, that's not what anyone should want. I think most of us feel the team is improving and that it won't be a case of backing in by default. If they get in, they will have earned it. They'll have to fight and claw their way back into the playoff hunt and could possibly get past the 8th spot if they really dig in.

As much as i'd like a high draft pick, I would like to see the team reach the goal of making the playoffs this year and putting in a good showing. The one difference I see this time is that neither Steph nor any other vet with an attitude problem is part of this run. So I think it has more legs this time. I think it really has a shot to be more successful.

Hmm... that's a tough choice. Between these choices, I'd have to pick #2, because that would mean more great games to us Knerds to watch, even if the season ends "early."

And then that leave more time for our boys to get all fit and trim in the off-season, right? :-/

I thouhgt this was the year we were supposed to be good. Not 15 games under .500 again. I agree we are seeing an uptick in performance from the beginning of the year. But how could it have gotten worse? At some point mediocrity has to pushed aside and you have to get your record where it's supposed to be, or you find other guys that can do it. Competing for an 8th seed with a 35 win season does us less good then giving Chandler/Mardy/Morris time to build for the future. At some point you have to ween out the vets and move forward.
