From Steve Adamek's Knicks blog:
Milking the moment
Even before the Giants won their spot in the Super Bowl on Sunday, the Knicks milked everything they could out of Big Blue, showing not only their victory over Dallas on the scoreboard DURING THEIR OWN GAME, but flashing Giants at the Garden on the board whenever possible.
So it was no surprise that, barely 12 hours after their victory over Green Bay, Plaxico Burress, R.W. McQuarters, Aaron Ross and Steve Smith showed up for Monday's matinee.
And then there was Isiah Thomas, who when asked if he took any inspiration from Tom Coughlin surviving his troubles in the New York market.
"Most definitely," he said. "His first two years here, he was having a lot of trouble. Last year, they were having some trouble inside the locker room. But they hung together and fought hard. They stayed together and persevered. Now they're playing for the Super Bowl.
"Sports is particularly rough in this town. If you persevere and you hold onto your wits, you can kind of see your way through the storm."
And while he was at it, Isiah also offered this about Doc Rivers' Celtics being 12-48 through 40 games last season compared to the Knicks' 13-27 entering Monday's game:
"Coaching nowadays is about having thick enough skin to weather the bad times. I remember being in Boston last year and I think we beat them by 20 or 30 (101-77 on Nov. 24, 2006) and they were screaming 'Fire Doc.'
"So in terms of making it to the top, it's not about quick fixes and doing it instantly. It's really about sticking your nose in there and getting punched a couple of times and getting a little bloody and getting knocked down and get[ting] back up and keep fighting. You've got to keep fighting and one day you'll be on top."
Or, if you're Danny Ainge, you call your old Celtics buddy Kevin McHale, ask him what he's willing to take in return for Kevin Garnett and then steal him.
Not sure if Isiah has that kind of friend anywhere in the league.

I told ya so. What an idiot.
If it didn’t work in Phoenix with Nash and Stoutamire... it’s just not a winning formula. It’s an entertaining formula, but not a winning one. - Derek Harper talking about D'Antoni's System
