Would you guys just kiss and make out already?
If it didn’t work in Phoenix with Nash and Stoutamire... it’s just not a winning formula. It’s an entertaining formula, but not a winning one. - Derek Harper talking about D'Antoni's System

can't wait to hear the "that's no excuse for them losing!" rants every time they lose a game on the back end of a back to back, followed up shortly by the "the other team was coming off a back to back" excuse when we win one from the usual cast of characters.

Wow that's a complete twist. Usually it's the apologists going nuts proclaiming back to backs so it's okay to lose, even when on some of those occasions, the other team was also on a back to back. Let's be fair here.

The Knicks stink. Losing some games on back to backs won't change that.

a twist u say... sorry Solace, i don't twist people's words... i just call them out on it.

Detroit was on a 4th road game in 5 nights - had just played OT the night before - got into NY at about 4AM. We were rested and at home.

Washington had played the night before beating Boston in a tough game. We were rested and at home.

I just can't put much stock into such opportunistic situations. Let's see how we do against the Nets tonight since we're now the road team on a back to back and they're home and rested.

Detroit their next game man handled Toronto @ home while we let Toronto manhandle us @ home and Wash beat Boston back-to-back games. There's nothing we can take from these games other than the fact Nate may have showcased his value.

I don't see how that proves your point at all. Unless I'm missing something, your initial claim doesn't seem to match what TrueBlue actually said. This seems a fair cry from the "no excuses" claim. When the alleged "no excuses" claim comes up has often been because our opponents that beat us had a similar schedule.

Like I said, there seems to be some confusion as to the source of the rants. From my perception, the source of the rants are apologists nearly claiming that the games don't count because the Knicks were on a back to back.

bro, it comes from both sides of the coin... my point is i'm sick of the excuses either way... there are no excuses for a win or loss... u win or lose, end of story... every time i hear some idiot try to justify a loss because of the situation playing on the back end of a back to back it annoys me... it needs to work both ways too... u can't just excuse a loss for other teams using the same excuse you claim isn't valid when it comes to us.

All I can say is that teams who play hard every night get more leeway. Effort is the most visible part of basketball. Some players have it sometimes, some players rarely have it, and some players bring it every night. Unfortunately, most of our team is the first or second group. I think the feeling on the board is if the Knicks put in the effort, back-to-backs wouldn't be their downfall. It's hard to expect consistency from the fans when the team shows no consistency.

Now I think some excuses have some validity. Those valid excuses are reserved for teams who play hard every night. That's why when people bring up the back-to-back excuse for the Knicks or the injury excuse for the Knicks, I call bogus. Tired players or injured players... we still have a group of lazy bums and quite frankly, we could toss away any four players and be no worse for the wear. That's just how it is.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Standing Ovation Solace!

That's exactly what Lovers do when it comes to Lee. Our team sucks, 80% of them don't even try or are inherently selfish. With that being said Lee gets the free pass, the exception why? Because he doesn't represent the overall traits of our team. He plays hard, although limited in a few areas of his game, plays with consistency when given consistent minutes.

I'm personally tired of the whining when the conscience surfaces, informing fans to keep their emotions in check concerning the team. We are a very bad basketball team and 2 wins in a row won't change that.

Thanks.

If the Knicks were a 50 win team and everyone played hard every night, I guarantee the Knicks would get the benefit of the doubt on most occasions. When you have a team that takes the night off two out of every three games, you can't give them the benefit of the doubt.

Seriously, I would love to root hard for the Knicks again. Frankly, at this point, I have more faith in a dead rat to perform better and work harder than most of our current squad and management.

this team is highly inconsistent, that is not even in debate here... when the team plays hard & they eek out a victory i think they deserve some credit for their effort... tonight's game was a clear example... they beat a Nets team that usually dominates us on their homecourt after beating the Wiz last night... that doesn't mean you fall off the deep end & proclaim the Knicks a playoff contender or project a bright future for this current bunch... let's try & draw a distinction here cuz there is a clear & unmistakable distinction that certain people don't seem to want to make.

Yup- just not till a few years later. In case - you haven't noticed- they have had atleast 3 coaches in 4 years - not including Isiah. Had over a 100 percent of their roster turned over - if not more in 3 years (excpet for the unkillable eternal parasite known as Herb Williams - spray some round up on that dude).

But your right - just because our bottom 10 in the draft -picks all are onthe team - and all play decent minutes, just because finally the guys who we always knew were 'me' guys maybe becoming 'we' guys.

Just because we can -once this team learns to play together - actually have every one get a rest- I mean isn't that the great American dream- no one is indispensable and a bunch of hard working stiffs will beat the pants of an aristocratic european anyday dream.

Dude- just chill- Nate/Lee?Balkman - have panned out. As someone posted earlier - there will be games when you need the post presence- like Curry and Randolph (and it looks like they are finally adapting to wins first/ me secod approach). Now that LB is behind us/ soon Marbury will be behind us - we will have a tram whose average age is like 25!! So - guess what if not this year or next - defintiely the year after!1 And unlike the 'old' knicks (literally) - when and IF we fire this GM - we actually have youth and TALENT - the picks at most will be 26 - the older guys at most will all be under 30!!

peace

I see that as rewarding a D student for occasionally pulling a B. Quite frankly, that student should be expected to be pulling B's or better to start with, so why reward him for meeting expectations once in a while? It's the same with the Knicks... am I going to give them credit for a single game played hard when we've got 3-5x as many where they didn't? Sorry, no. Playing hard should be expected.

I'm not gonna ride the Knicks train for winning 3 in a row, but clearly there are some good takeaways from these wins:

1) Crawford playing some of the best ball of his career
2) Nate Robinson turning into a PG
3) Balkman re-emerging as part of the rotation and showing his worth

Guys need to develop. You don't develop anyone by giving up and losing. So I'm glad that some of the right guys are playing well and playing hard.

a year ago, this team could have played hard but still come up short... they deserve a little credit for not wilting under the Nets' comeback & winning the game IMO... we're gonna have to agree to disagree here... i'm not riding any train on this team or anything close to it, just so we're clear on that... it's an individual game where i think they played well & deserve a little credit for doing so.

The Knicks generally played harder last year than this year... not that they were playing hard last year on a consistent basis, but certainly moreso than this year.

For a single game they look good. My biggest complaint with the team has been consistency. Their biggest consistency is in their inconsistency, so I can't give them credit because next game they'll show up flat.

And when are we going to stop AT A BOYING our team for what they get paid to do, competing and playing hard every night? Especially the veteran players. Like fans giving Marbury Kudos last yr for conforming saying it was his best season as a pro. Uhhhh no... you're supposed to conform people and not be a Tyrannical Malcontent SOB.

When your team has a history of not playing hard or consistent, you have to acknowledge improvement in those areas. Now when it becomes a consistent behavior then you don't have to mention it. It's not that hard to understand.

The thing is that you don't have to be stuck in a mode of total disgust for the team with no recognition of anything good they may do. That's where the idea of putting labels on people get's started. It's just too harsh a stance for some of us to take when you can't even be allowed to enjoy a good performance for what it was. That doesn't mean you have to read into it that we're "Isiah lovers" or "knick apologists". We're merely taking note of good play when we see it. I haven't seen anyone come out and go crazy over the wins, but at the same time why shouldn't we take notice of Nate's improving play or the team passing the ball as it should? It's just too much sometimes.
