ude- atleast look up stuff before you procede :

The Boston Celtics announced today that they have acquired 10-time All-Star and 2004 MVP Kevin Garnett from the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for Ryan Gomes, Gerald Green, Al Jefferson, Theo Ratliff, Sebastian Telfair, a 2009 first round draft pick (top three protected) and a return of Minnesota's conditional first round draft pick previously obtained in the Ricky Davis-Wally Szczerbiak trade. Minnesota also receives cash considerations in the deal.

Thas 6 first round draft picks! Jefferson, Telfair, Green, Gomes plus two more draft picks in 2009 and one they gave away earlier plus an 11 million dollar expiring contract plus cash - for one player.

If Theo Ratliff's 11 millin dollar expiring contract was SO improtant (and it was-since the Lakers were trying as well)- imagine how important Stef's 20 million dollar expiring contract will be!!

So we're giving up Marbury, Lee, Nate, Chandler, and Balkman for who?

Please buy him out now. His large expiring contract next season only means we take back more sh it with bloated long term contracts. Some people are under the delusion that somehow an expiring contract means you get back quality talent. The only way you get back QUALITY talent is when you give up something of TRUE value. When the Celtics got KG, they gave up Al Jefferson. Where is our Al Jefferson to package with Stiffbury? I seriously doubt David Lee and Marbury will bring us back a TRUE difference maker. We need to unload our ENTIRE roster before we can move forward.

expiring contracts can actually be useful in upgrading talent or getting draft picks through trades I think. Even without an al jefferson type player to package them with. That's how the warriors got Baron Davis. It's just that you have to be careful of what kind of player your using the expiring to bring in.

Yeah but a 20 million dollar expiring means we will also take back a lot of long term junk that eats up roster spots. And Baron Davis is only successful in that chucking style under Don Nelson, otherwise, he would be no great shakes and someone I would definitely not build my team around.

We're not in position to ADD onto the team until we jettison the crap FIRST. We should be going the Portland Trailblazer route.

And we've done it the half-ass way for the past 7 years and it's been nothing but disaster. Time to blow it up completely.

the Knicks have a lottery pick that's in Isiah's chamber waiting to be fired off along w/Marbury's expiring for Antawn Jamison.
