Stop dealing. Too late to improve for this season. Go for the draft and let the contracts we have either close out or get close, so we end up with more flexible options in the near future. Don't replace mediocre with another set of long term mediocre's. See the long post between Jaydee and yourself.

The deal that I proposed gives us and expiring this yr, one next yr and a young pg which is akin to getting an additional draft pick. Moving Zach gets rid of a 4 yr deal.

I just re-read your post. Yes, you mentioned Marcus (that sounds all good and stuff), but you propose at the expense of something I'm totally against anymore. Bringing in others, where we'll have to sign to another three to four (or more years) mega dollar deals. You see, we keep re-signing the same types right back into our roster and tying ourselves back up again in not so promising players. Thus, not being able to have the money, the cap to sign a true superstar, when they become available! Look at the history of our make-up and the results the last ten years. This is the point I have been trying make for years now. We need to stop that!

4949.........Magloire expires this summer....there is no need to resign him. He is only brought here to make the numbers work for exporting Zach out. Collins expires along with Marb and Malik. Again, no need to resign any of those guys. So in the summer of 09, Zach will still have 2 yrs left on his deal but it will be on the Nets books, not ours.

I'm not suggesting resigning anyone. Collins and Magloire as I said have to be included to make the dollars match up, but both are (pieces of meat as Mo taylor says). Their expiring contracts. So basically, were are trading Zach for Marcus Williams because he would be the only one we keep.
"Man, who knows with this team." Aguirre.

No team is giving up a draft pick (including 2nd round) or taking back one more penny in salary than they're giving up just to get Zach. We saw this off-season just how low other teams' interest in him is. Do you really think his "stellar" season this year on the Knicks has helped his trade value?!

Don't be so sure... Chicago has reportedly been willing to give up a 1st rd pick plus Ben Gordon for Pau Gasol. I know our fans historically believe that Knick's players lack trade value (Not True, IMO)... but can you honestly argue that Gasol is that much better than Zach Randolph? Gasol is having a down year as well, wouldn't you agree? A trade like this can happen for NYK, will it... remains to be seen.

Gasol is a trillion times more valuable to a team than Eddy. Gasol is not a black hole on offense. There's no risk he'll be in prison any time soon. Gasol shows up in shape every year and is a good model for young teammates. Gasol is a good shot-blocker and alters many shots. Gasol averages three assists per game. Gasol's been an all-star on a 50 win team in the west. If you called the Grizzlies and offered Zach for Gasol, you wouldn't even get a discussion going...you'd get hung up on instantly.

Gasol was a malcontent on the Grizzles, he requested a trade two yrs in a row... He plays hard when it's convenient for him. Who is that a Role model for? Yeah he made the All star team.. ok, but you said it best he was on a 50 WIN TEAM.... Individually his numbers were not better than Zach Randolph's. Defensively, yeah I think he is better, helping and rotating but without question Zach is the better scorer.
Moreover, the people who watch him most in Memphis think otherwise:
"Privately, the organization is growing dissatisfied with the effort Gasol has brought to work. The perception is that Gasol's lackadaisical defensive and rebounding performances coupled with inconsistent offense are by design to emphasize his desire for a trade. Asked his thoughts on the team's direction, Gasol sounded concerned. 'I don't really know the direction of the franchise,' he said before adding that he ultimately wants to play for a winner."

His team sucks this year, will he make the Allstar team now? It's crazy how you think that Pau Gasol is so glaringly better than Zach Randolph. If a discussion, doesn't start than it is probably because Zeke didn't make the call.
New York is the Basketball Mecca of the World... NYK Fans deserve a winning squad-- Ball Up!

yeah.. now if only he could stay healthy for more than 10 games a stretch maybe he'd actually be more worthy of your praise for the guy.

I think you've got the wrong guy. Gasol has had two injuries in his career that each caused him to miss about 20 games. His median games played in a season is 79.
