Those were the good old days. Those Knicks team, moreso than any other that followed it, seemed to me to represent NEW YORK. It's not always the most talented person to succeed, but the one willing to bust his butt and not take no for an answer.
You look at the players those teams had and, outside of Ewing, you won't find a bonafide Hall of Fame caliber player. Mjax is the only one who's borderline and it's solely due to the amount of assists he's accumulated, not his individual skills. Yet you saw that all of them thought they were great and played like no one could take them down. If it weren't for that MJ guy...

I've said this before on the old forum: people go buck wild cuz NY is now 'free' of Riley's and JVG's stale offenses. While that may or may not be true, the fact is that THE GARDEN ROCKED every 4th quarter while those teams played. For me it's better to watch a tight 83-79 NY win where the Defense locks down the opponents than to watch a 105-93 loss where the result was known with 8 minutes left in the game.
