wouldn't it make sense to for the Knicks to do what the Blazers did with Randolph?

Start dumping players for any expiring contracts or players with shorter deals. Screw the talent.
Let's try to elevate the level of discourse in this byeetch. Please

Shaq's not going to agree to a trade unless his soon to be divorced wife agrees to move herself and the kids near wherever he's playing which isn't happening and damn sure isn't happening in NY. He can't and won't help the Knicks anyway.

Would you prefer Ben Wallace?

That's like asking would I prefer a fat girl with an odor or an ugly girl with a club foot.

Wallace (and similar contracts) are attractive because when they expire, Zach's contract will still be going for another year and 17mil. That is the year guys like Wade and LeBron could be Free Agents.

I also like Wallace because when paired with Curry, you get Defense and Boards.

I know all of that, however, much like Isiah, you're not taking into account the effect bringing in guys who don't want to be here will have on this team. Ben Wallace will sit on the Knicks bench and pitch a bitch fit every other day. Just because he wears cheap kicks too doesn't mean he wants to come here, not to mention there's a reason Chicago is being laughed at for giving him that much money.

Shaq would laugh Riley out of Miami if he ever fixed his face to say he's trading him to NY. He made it absoulutely clear when he was in Orlando, LA and on his way to Miami that he wouldn't touch the Knicks with a 10 foot pole and that was before Isiah made them even worse. He doesn't have a no trade clause because he doesn't need one. Dude's a made man in this league. And again, like I said before, he'd never go for it logistically with his divorce situation. Why would they take back Knicks trash when Shaq could very well retire at the end of this season anyway? Get rid of JWill and some other deadweight and they're straight. Miami's going to start building around Wade and doing whatever it takes to keep him (shipping out Walker was step 1). That doesn't include bringing malcontents with crap contracts who can't keep up with Riley's ridiculous conditioning demands (Randolph, Curry, Richardson, James, I'm looking at you) to South Beach.

Why on earth would you bring in vets who want no parts of a rebuilding situation? And what makes you think Miami or Chicago want anything that the Knicks have? Everyone else sees what's going on with the Knicks and knows talent isn't the issue, attitudes and character flaws are. If not, teams would have been knocking down the Blazers' door the minute Roy told the front office to trade Randolph. Knick fans are starting to realize how Isiah got him on the cheap, something every other GM except Isiah knew years ago.

The only realistic idea I've heard regarding those 2 teams and the Knicks is Marbury to Miami for JWill and trash and that's because Riley hates Williams enough to do it. The Knicks aren't in a position to be picky. They better call up teams like Memphis and let them take inventory of the Knicks' roster.

Exactly and keep your picks while trying to stockpile others.

I agree NYsportsfan, but don't you think that while teams might not be willing to give up A LOT for Curry, they'd still be willing to take him on just because of his size and talent level and they can work on his flaws?
For that, one would think a team would be willing to give up an expiring and a conditional draft pick (Like maybe top 8 protected.)

Zach Randolph I can see as a different story though. His contract is ridiculous and he's going to have to be bought out.

Buy out randolph, trade Curry for what you can that can't hurt you deeper, and either let Marbury expire or trade him for cheap. You might have to buyout Richardson too, and I would suggest either hiring a coach specifically for Crawford, because it's been proven he needs an ars buster (Thank you Larry Brown.) If you can't do that, then you might as well just trade him for cheap at some point too, because Crawford isn't benefitting us, nor are we benefitting him, by just letting him play the way he wants.

I think it would be more realistic to do a Jason Williams/Ricky Davis for Marbury deal

Are both of them expiring deals? If not, I see no reason to take on 2 headaches for 1.

They are both expiring which makes it highly unlikely they'd move them for Marbury.

I like Mal, but I don't think he's worth going all out for. If anything, his stock along with David's is the only one worth anything on the Knicks. His only problem is that 2 guards are a dime a dozen in any league and he doesn't do anything above average besides score. The Knicks should sell high on that one.

Randolph could be valuable depending on the situation. I could see a team taking a chance on him, but the Knicks can't approach it as getting back equal talent. Just like the Blazers didn't.

Curry has no heart (figuratively, lol) and no desire to be "the man" but yeah, I could see 1 or 2 teams being interested. Some will be interested in most of the Knicks just because they think if you take a player out of a certain environment, they instantly improve. I could see him going to a place like Charlotte if MJ who's a notorious ball buster wasn't there or a really small market where he'll spend his days talking about how "dealing with you guys out here is so much easier" when talking to the team's lone beat writer about watching grass grow.

Richardson has no trade value at this point. If someone's willing to take him or Marbury you do it before they come to their senses.
