This is basically an NBA/Knicks forum IMO with Knicks simply in the title. Probably 20 threads per week are NBA threads. Maybe more. King connected the thread to the Knicks pretty clearly anyway

Bonn are you that dense not to see King's true intentions with this thread? Look he creates these threads for the purpose of conjuring up some Zach bashing b/c then people like yourself and others come out talk about the usual ball-hogging, no defense playing, bad character, bad contract. Usually the back and forth begins and in the end most of us end up agreeing. Because we all realize that basketball is the least of the Knick's organization problems. And that certain actions need to be taken off the court before any corrections on the court can happen.
ok- lets just talk about the knicks, and what a crappy bunch of basketball we have to watch, and how correct Dolan was to say New York would not wait for a rebuild and how Isiah was going to rebuild on the fly.

All the while, somehow, unbeknownst to you and Dolan, teams like Utah and Portland somehow - god only knows- are able to rebuild in 2-3 years, and put a competitive team on the court- one that is entertaining.

Yes, lets not talk about what other teams are doing, because doing so only highlights what crap we have to watch.

Thank you Captain Obvious!

I don't know if its Zach bashing as much as its a bash about starphuching-

I don't understand how Marbury comes back, and suddenly, we lose. There is just something in the air that swirls around him.

And thanks for calling me Captain Obvious. I really appreciate that- made my day, in fact!

Portland is Charlotte plus some more. They are nasty. They could pull off a trade for some KG type player and be great for a while, but I don't see trades like that coming down the pike again. Can't see them getting Kobe either since they are rivals.

Heck they might just be great for a while anyway.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

"Suddenly we lose"? When exactly were we winning? Are you referring to that 1 game win streak?

true!

I guess I should have said without marbury, we weren't gettibg blown out by 20+ every night- then he comes back, and viola!

the knicks are a case where the sum of the parts are greater than the whole.

Winning streak has hit 10 and they don't even have Oden....

4 years ago Portland was a mediocre team, filled with overpaid and underachieving players. They had the highest payroll in basketball and subsequently they were capped out for the foreseeable future, while going nowhere fast.

Now, after gutting their team of all of their overpaid, underachieving and disgruntled players and committing to building through the draft, they have a solid nucleus of a team that can be very good when the Spurs, Suns and Mavs start declining. Good things happen when you have a plan.

The Knicks could have been in that position. But Isiah took a mediocre team and turned it into a complete laughingstock.

It's like 2 people trying to help a crack addict. One person decides they need tough love and rehab to solve the problem. The other decides that they need coddling and more crack. The former isn't guaranteed to work but there's a chance that it will. The latter will never work and only a complete idiot who thinks that he's so much smarter than everybody else would try it.

The threads all have different points of discussion. This one is actually about Portland not just Zach. E-Mail the mods if you have a problem with 3 somewhat related threads in a month.

How about this Bonn explain to me why I or anyone on a Knicks borad should care about the Portland Trailblazers?

Because coming out of last season, the Knicks and Portland were more or less at similar positions with both teams looking to move into the playoffs. Portland dumps Zach Randolph on us, they get back nothing, their franchise center goes down before ever playing a game... yest look at where they are and look where we are. You have to look at how Portland to evaluate how the Zach Randolph trade is working out for us. I'd say it is working out GREAT for them.

Are't you taking this little too far? The guy started a thread on how to build a model franchise becuase its a lesson we sorely ned to learn. Now we are supposed to read some premeditated evil intent at Zach bashing into this? Cut this guy a break already.

I'd say your metaphor is a bit over-the-top, but point taken.

I agree, Mr. IQ. bitty, calm down. The focus on Portland is because we recently made a trade with them. Just as it had been for 1-2 years after our trades that improved other teams, such Phoenix, Chicago, Orlando, Toronto, etc...

This just comes up because Isiah is pushing his way to being partly responsible for the success of nearly one-quarter of the league, his own team not included. No irony?

I didn't interpret this as a Zach bash. Maybe more of a 'hey, Frye might have been better than we realized'?

The same fans who get irritable when the discussion of "BLAZERS" are brought up are the same ones who "TRIP OVER THEMSELVES" to offer their 1 cent when discussing the "BULLS", "TYRUS THOMAS", "STEVE FRANCIS", "JACKIE BUTLER" "LARRY BROWN" "DEMTRIS NICHOLS" etc etc. They pick and choose their battles.

::Confused:: I thought Chicago was the team that everybody around here got on their collective knees for? Oh well, I guess the next icons and geniuses are just another 20/10 game or multiple win streak game away.
