The balance to the roster wasn't that bad at the time, and Stephon Marbury was like 3 times the player then that he has become now.

That we would not win consistently until we BALANCED THE ROSTER.

Now, none of us expected 23 wins. But there were some that tried to warn. We were called names.....We haven't forgotten that.

I think one of the main things that hurt us was that we had the draft (and signed James) before we hired the coach. Now I don't know that Isiah would've listened to Larry, but maybe the approach would've been slightly different.

You're right. I remember screaming that we are going to be Phoenix East. I remember you telling me to temper my enthusiasm. I remember you saying that LB would be a long-term move, that results would not show up for a few years, etc.

Bip also warned me about the use of fossil fuels and their contribution to global warming. This was back in 1948. I didn't listen, and failed to stop the widespread adoption of the automobile and other machines that contribute greenhouse gases. Now I really regret not listening.

"Phoenix East" was always a stupid Isiah used car sales pitch line. We didn't have the coach or personnell for that. I don't think LB was ever really thinking about Phoenix East and that certainly wasn't the reason why I thought we'd be better.

"Phoenix East" is yet another one of those great Isiah pitchlines that made no senselike "Frye reminds me of Tim Duncan," "We are younger and more athletic," "Shotblocking is overrated" and "Being under the salary cap is overrated."
