I'm just tired of losing. This team is still technically garbage, but it would be nice if the entire team had a collective epiphany of "Hey! Being terrible sucks! How about we give what it takes to be good! Everyone will love us! We're all gonna get laid!"

The only potential problem here is this whole Marbury versus Thomas fiasco. I'm pretty sure Isiah Thomas knows what he wants from the point guard position.

This is exactly how I feel. Exactly!!!!!!

Everytime the team wins a game we have a group of people and the players begging for credit. Literally begging the world to give them credit. "Look what I've done". "love me". "Oh God, please love me". "Oh God please love them". Sports is simple. Win games and you will be loved. Lose games and you will not. 5-10 with inconsistent effort is not going to get you love because you won 3 out of 4. What gets you love is getting your record to wear it should be.

I know this kind of talk may sound a little to hard edge and tough for some of you little women, but I've been watching and playing sports my entire life, and this rule has never changed. And it will not change no matter how much you guys beg for it. When this team wins consistently you will see the mood of this board and everywhere else change. Until then, it will not. Accept it, and sit back and pray your team gets it together. And quit being such pansies.

jesus.

who did lil' bip throw up on THIS time??

Counted Out, Knicks Show Their Resolve

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/12/01/sports/basketball/01knicks.html?ref=sports

Another night that began with boos and chants to fire Coach Isiah Thomas ended with the Knicks’ third victory in four games. That is their best four-game stretch this season, a 45-point blowout defeat notwithstanding.

The week had begun with a stunning victory over Utah that seemed to signal a shift in the Knicks’ personality and confidence. Then came Thursday’s collapse in Boston and a lot of renewed doubts. “Are we the team that beat Chicago and Utah and played well, or are we the team that lost last night and had a tough loss in Denver?” Thomas asked before the game. “We’ve yet to find our identity.”

NYT

I'm surprised Isiah's yet to recognize our identity.

We're a soft, fragile group lacking chemistry, leadership and discipline. Our offense is marked by poor shooting, poor playmaking and poor feeding of the post. We start games sluggish, fall into an early hole, and head into half-time despondent and confused. we hope our second unit can make up lost ground in the 3rd and Jamal can go unconscious in the 4th to win it with a prayer in the final seconds.

At it's root, Isiah simply doesn't get why he can't just throw together a bunch of Tim Thomases and Shandon Andersons and get consistent play.

All that stuff is overrated. The only thing that matters is if we look good on paper.

For whatever reason some fans just can't understand that POV.

We won 3 of 4 but we are 5-10. Let's say we go 9 of the next 12 and we're sitting at 14-13. That's when I'll raise an eyebrow and think "They're starting to look pretty good." Even if that happened they'd still need to keep it up for a lot longer period of time before I ever thought "They're starting to get it."

There has been so much losing and poor play that people are looking for even just the smallest margin of time where they might play well and then try to forget about all the bad around that small period of time. Kinda like Jamal's good week last year that included the 52 point game. Kinda like this week winning 3 of 4.

You'd think these types of fans would be the most livid with the overall losing and poor play not happy a crappy player had one good game or a crappy team had one good week.

I think the team looked like it could have been an interesting season after the first 4 games...I think Isiah lost the team after he didn't bench Marbury for the west coast trip (I would have benched him all four games)...They didn't even try to compete against Boston...It might have been 3 of the last four but it felt more like 1 of the last 4 after that beat down from Boston...

bonn/Marv/bippity - thank you for the greetings.

Cosmic - ESPN ran that meaningful stat of how many games the Knicks won by 5 points or less. to which I say (deep pause)

Big Freakin' Deal!

I don't care if they win by .0001 points in quadruple overtime in Kuala Lampur in a heavy downpour.

A win is a win.

Beat Phoenix!

History 101

People were scrambling for cover after the 2006 Denver scuffle, the writers all predicted a Knicks implosion, players were suspended, the team was out of control... there was panic in the streets - and what happened?

stay tuned

As long as you agree a loss is a loss.

Seriously, far too many times I see fans suggest that all wins count but those losses by 1-3 points were winnable games and then go on and alter the true record in their minds to compensate for that opinion.

I say for every game we barely lost that we could have won - every game we barely won we could have lost.

In that, the point is, our record reflects exactly who we are no matter how one wishes to spin close wins or losses. We're 5-10 and have to go 36-31 to get to the playoffs. That's a pretty tall order for a team that has never played .530 ball under Isiah Thomas for any respectable stretch of time.

Cosmic - agreed.

You are who your record sez you are. Not the point differential or spread. I think tonight's game with Phoenix is nearly as ripe as the Boston game for an opportunity to build confidence.

An even better opportinity to go 4 of 5 which does not suck for a weeks work.

Point being - you gotta start someplace. Why not tonight?

Put Fred Jones on Steve Nash and let's see if the MSG crowd can get respond to some hustle and determination with a few cheers.

Nice work on the video highlights by the way

We won 33 games and surrendered the #9 pick to Chicago..

blueseats - nice try at minimalizing my sincere attempt at the immediate aftermath of the Denver scuffle.

If you check the steady improvement in the 2006-07 monthly records, the Knicks were on a positive swing until the injury epidemic hit

People have been bitching about the Knicks since Isiah got here without realizing what he had to work with. WHO could have turned this around with the remnants of Shanviseisleyspoon? Not me. So I don't expect Isiah to EITHER. I expect him to screw US but I'm OK with that because he tried, I think. Is it wrong for me to just want MY team to win? Some on this site IGNORE the fact that we've won 3 out of 4. They ignore the fact that the team, and not just Eddy, is HUNGRY. What I don't want to hear is that this team can't get BETTER with a little improvement and some defense and a few more wins and a little coaching and such. Once in my life I supervised some people and they were lazy and they were stupid. But they ended up NOT destroying the company! So how can anyone say for SURE that our illustrious group of sniveling doormats and truck-frequenting paramours won't re-discover their love for the game? Since no one knows the answer to that question, it means that we're DESTINED to win a championship. Goodnight.
Sh-t in the popcorn to go with sh-t on the court. Its a theme show like Medieval times.

of course they were, just like the year before when they won 6 consecutive just before giving up and bottoming out with 23 wins.

remember, you said 'we are what our record says we are,' so i'm just keepin' it real.

I'm wid that

I accept full responsibility for the consecutive win streak coming to an end as it was dj who flinched first when Marbury separated his shoulder

damn, if Jamal wasn't having a John Starks moment the Knicks would be enjoying themselves

I'll acknowledge that Eddy and Zach are definitely HUNGRY.
