A leader is someone who is followed--not necessarily someone who leads in a positive direction. Marbury has been the team's leader for the past 4 years and still is the team's leader. And our record reflects his leadership.
The best packages of leadership I ever ever saw was:
Michael Jordan
Larry Bird
Magic Johnson
Tim Duncan
Dr. J
Kareem Abdul Jabaar
Isiah Thomas (as a guard)
Hakeem The Dream
David Robinson
There are a few others, but I never saw them play. There are a few others who are playing right now who might make a solid leader, like Kidd, Nash & James to name a few. Hell' I might even consider someone like Dirk, despite his one bad playoff series. To me, this is what leadership should be about. They usually put integrity of the game first, before themselves. They put team first before themselves. All of the guys mentioned above did just that. You'd think someone like Isiah would know that and would instill that into the minds of this team. When I see suckbury hogging the ball or Nate having another one of his smart ass tandoms on the court, that says something about the coach.
I can't put Kobe on this list, well, because as great as he is, he doesn't show a lot of leadership, mainly because of his attitude towards his present team right now. I think he should mend that fence before he asks to be traded first. But if he changed his ways, he'd be one hell of a leader. You can't deny his talents though. When Carmelo suckered Collins last year, I no longer thought he had the potential of being a leader anymore. At least not now.
I'll never trust this' team again.
