Balkman is the straw that stirs the drink

Zach is a straight-up, warrior

Lee brings the intensity and the dunkage

Eddy just wanted to get in on the fun

straight up warrior?

wow knick fans have really gotten disillusioned from the Isiah era...
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

I wont knock that guy, he came up big for us 4th quarter, but could he have anchored our defense better first half? Maybe but anyway a win is a win.

Still Curry needs to realise that by protecting our paint, clearing up the boards and boxing out his man and keeping us from going down bigh early in games is just as important as getting his 20 plus ppg. I'd still give him plenty of love if he gives us 15ppg 12rbpg 2 blocks 1 ast and make us a top 15 defensive team in the league

All true.

Only it's a pipedream.

That's like asking Zach Randolph to throw down nasty windmill dunks...

9 pts 5 rebs 1 blk in the 4th. IMO that might have been his best quarter as a Knick.

Eddy doesnt have the weight of being a franchise player on his shoulders anymore. Hes just one of several talented players. We are not forcing him the ball and making him the focus of the offense. He is proving that not only is he a dominant offensive force, hes dominant even when he scores in the flow of the offense 24 pts shooting 11-16, including some critical points down the stretch. Take that haters!!

I said it in the gamethread. Eddy played great in the 4th quarter tonight, we know he has the size and athleticism to do this but the key is him doing it consistently.

Let's hope its the start of a trend for him.

killa4 - it could be my imagination, along with the rose-tinted shades, but Eddy just seems more relaxed with Zach having his back at forward.

Zach WANTS the ball. Eddy, with ego in check, has no problem sharing the paint and what was painted as a difficult experiment is already showing earlier dividends than anyone expected.

Now, add the courageous David Lee to the mix and the Knicks frontcourt ain't no joke.

Balkman makes the whole thing skip a beat forward.

I have to agree with Bonn on this. Curry showed he could do it in a quarter, but until he shows that he can rebound, pass and play d with consistency, he hasn't shown anything. This game gives us reason to hope, but Curry still has a lot to prove.

When eddy moves he is unstoppable. When he stands around he is a log.

The ball movement was great tonite! Eddy was the first option and the guards gave it up!

BTW, anyone notice how Eddy Curry and Zach Randolph's inside D deficiencies were masked by Renaldo Balkman.

Yes, and if he gets anymore blocks Isiah will start telling us how underrated shot blocking is.

I've been saying all along that Eddy isn't a "bad" rebounder or a "bad" shotblocker, as some here have insisted, because he has shown the ability to be a good at both. The problem has been consistency and effort. Tonight was an example of what he is capable of. If we see it on a consistent basis our team can only stand to benefit.

Uh, technically doesn't that make him a bad rebounder and shotblocker?

Last year the guy averaged one blocked shot every 70 minutes. That's as bad as it gets for a center. He gets 1 rebound every 5 minutes. That's not awful but it's below average.

So desperate to take a shot at Curry, you have to go back to last year. How about you comment on the game tonight.

Sheesh

His numbers are basically this same this year.

Eddy needs to take the rebounding clinic by instructors David Lee and Randolph.

Lee will teach him how to "go get" the ball, and Randolph will teach him how through boxing out and positioning even a non-athletic guy can inhale double-digit rebounds flat-footed.

If Curry learns from them he is an excellent player.

Aside from the physical attributes, Zach reminds me a lot of Oak when rebounding. The man just knows how to box out and has the desire to get to the ball.

That's what Isiah [Thomas] had in mind when he brought Zach here," Curry said. "I had a lot of fun, probably more fun I've had in a long time in a basketball arena.

When Curry plays with those guys like Jamal, Nate, Balk and Lee his energy level goes up. He takes on the personality of those around him. When we play slow he plays slow.

I think having Balk in the lineup with him is good for him.

But another thing you see this year is that he's trying to block shots. He's had a few goaltends, but one step at a time. At least he's more agressive.

VDesai - outstanding take on Eddy's chameleon-like personality. Our reluctant center now has some fun playmates to feed off. Zach is HUGE in this regard. Did you see him BEGGING for the ball?

Just imagine how Eddy feels about The Garden chanting his name.
