to be fair, i think the inability of our bigs to intimidate & block shots also has a lot to do w/our G's inabilities to guard the perimeter... they're always having to double down to stop penetration, leaving their men open on the 3 pt line... i keep saying it over & over, get a shotblocker in here & that issue will be addressed... but no, Isiah thinks we need more low post scoring & rebounding when we already have a great low post scorer in Curry & a couple of great energetic rebounders in the frontcourt in Lee & Balk.
TMS, it would have been hard enough to build around Curry, b/c it's hard finding shotblockers nowadays who can play big minutes. It almost forces you to get somebody of the Camby/Okafor calibre. And even then, it's still ideal to have guys who can hold their own on the perimeter, b/c if they can't, then that shotblocker would be fouling out b/c guys can just drive at will and flood your shotblocker, not to mention Curry.
But NOOOOW not only do we get another low post scorer who doesn't play ANY type of defense, besides at least trying hard (And he still sucks at D') but we still have the same perimeter guys who can't D up, and now we have those rebounders and defenders on the bench who will be getting LESS time, b/c of that extra pointless low post scorer. I'm saying it now and I said it then, the Zach trade wasn't that smart.
TMS-- your post doesn't make sense to me. If guard 1 loses his man, and guard 2 (or someone at the SF position) doubles down and leaves his man open in an effort to help, what does EC or Zack have to do with a hit three pointer?
1. Guard 1 needs to STOP GETTING BEAT
2. Guard 2 needs to stop leaving his man.
As is, the ball never gets into to EC for him to make a play-- it's kicked out for the three that the penetration and sloppy perimeter defense caused.

if we had a shotblocking intimidator in the paint, the guards could focus more on guarding their man instead of trying to double down on penetration into the lane... that's why i say having a Camby like presence on this team would do wonders for our team defense. After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.
