I like Biedrins.
We are from same city. Riga the capital of Latvia.
Cannot imagin him on the Knicks... At least with Isiah.

Haha I'm from Riga too. Although I'm Russian, not Latvian.

Anyway, I'm all for dumping Curry in favor of anyone who averages more than 4rpg.

WOW.
I am Jew not Latvian (LOL).
How long are you in US?

Perfect next to Zach and David Lee. Perfect.
Eddy's so bad that you're not even including him in your future front-court???

Bonn - the Knicks BFC is a three-man rotation.

Curry, Zach and Lee are interchangeable at the 4-5.

The prime directive always applies. You suck. You sit.

I wish it was a little more defined like: No D no minutes. See if it holds for Curry.

How long have I been saying let's go get this guy fellas? Seriously, how long? I would do a Lee for Biedrins or Lee and filler for Biedrins and not even look back. AND I LOVE LEE!!!!!!!!

6'11", can play the 4 and the 5 without any mismatches working against us (you can't play Lee for long stretches at the 5, come on people), runs the floor, can score (nice hooks with both hands) and oh yeah, HE'S A VERY EFFICENT SHOTBLOCKER! One of the best rebounders and shotblockers in the league per minutes played actually. He's a taller, better version of David Lee who can do more things. His offensive game is more developed than Lee, he rebounds as well as Lee and he's a legit shotblocker, while Lee isn't.

Perfect, and I mean perfect, compliment to Curry and Z-Bo - better than Lee. I wouldn't even wait 'til next year - I go after him hard right now using Lee. Golden State might bite. They have Patrick O'Bryant waiting in the wings to take over the 5. Lee would be a good fit on that team next to O'Bryant - a defender/rebounder type next to all their scorers. They really don't have a player like Lee out there. And Biedrins would be perfect for us. We basically gain another Lee that can do more things out there.

I make this trade YESTERDAY if I'm Isiah!!!

Hilton Armstrong or Justin Williams are another couple of guys I's love to have on this team after Biedrins.

And hey just for the record, I know there are a ton of Lee fanatics out there - I assure you, I'm one of them. Of course, I'd start by offering Mullin Curry, Balkman, Nate, etc... but it would take Lee to get this done - and I'd do it!

Imaginary cap space is fun.
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

Finestrg - yeah, but you conveniently overlook the other half of the equation that if your were Isiah, you would still need to make Golden State an offer they cannot refuse.

Why don't we see if we can do this deal

Incoming Players
Wilson Chandler
6-8 from DePaul
No games yet played in 2006/07
Eddy Curry
6-11 C from Thornwood (HS)
19.5 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 0.8 apg in 35.2 minutes
Outgoing Players
Tyson Chandler
7-1 C from Dominguez (HS)
9.2 ppg, 12.2 rpg, 0.9 apg in 33.9 minutes

Curry is not what we need we need a guy that is low key and doesn't need the ball can rebound and block some shots, chandler is also tradable

David Lee ain't David Robinson

Does GS covet Lee?

Agreed. In fact, my initial post was all about how I think Biedrins is better than Lee. But let's take a good look at this whole scenario for a sec. GS didn't re-up Biedrins so in my book that means they plan on going in a different direction (Patrick O'Bryant). Instead of losing the guy for nothing to free agency next year I'd be willing to bet that he could be had in the right deal. Enter the Knicks - who offer, say, a David Lee/Balkman or Lee/Mardy Collins for him. You don't think Mullin would have to consider that? You don't think that's a fair trade for both clubs? True, I like Biedrins better, but Lee is almost a lock for a double-double every night (a case can be made that he could've been the 6th man of the year last season if he doesn't get hurt) and the Warriors don't have anything like the ultra-high energy Balkman or defensive-minded Collins on their team. The closest they have to that sort of player is Mickael Pietrus, but he's not Balkman or Collins defensively.

We have nothing to worry about though because I really think Isiah is incapable of making a sensible deal like this anyway.

But wasn't Isiah capable enough to draft Lee when most people were looking the other way?

stay tuned. It's about to get real

Restricted free agency can only occur after the 4th year of a 1st round draft pick's rookie scale contract. More clearly, "a first round draft pick becomes an unrestricted free agent following his second or third season if his team does not exercise its option to extend the player's rookie scale contract for the next season. All other free agency is limited to unrestricted free agency."

See: http://members.cox.net/lmcoon/salarycap.htm#36

So, no GS is not letting the rest of the NBA set his market price, they are giving him up as a salary cap consideration.

Dead wrong,

a) they didn't sign Biedrins to an extension, they did not give up on him or not give him a tender next year when his rookie contract is up. Your line of "thinking" is a year to early

b) read the actual articles
