how on earth can anyone believe isiah is putting vets on notice- but dnic, someone who demonstrated in the short summer league to have more potential than Jerome James, got released.

Oh, yea, must be that contract.

Oh, yea, must be that contract.

It would have been much, much more cheaper to get rid of Dan Dickau instead of Nichols.. Even Rose would've been about 4 million dollars cheaper to buyout than Jerome.
I'll never trust this' team again.

You mean Jones right because we did get rid of Dickau with cash considerations to the Clippers.

I don't think you can. that is how John starks made the knicks. They were going to cut him, but he got hurt and the rules are you can't cut a player on the Injury list. So he stayed around, impressed the knicks enough and the rest is history...

That was when they had the Injured List. Too many teams were stashing people on it, so the NBA eliminated the IL and raised the roster limit to 15 with 12 eligible for each game. It's a strict 15, so you're forced to waive a promising young player to get to that limit by the roster deadline. Oh wait, that's just Isiah's Knicks.

Well since JJ2 is hurt, he won't have to think too hard about benching him. Balkman should start the season getting about 25 minutes a game and that should continue even after JJ2 comes back. He also needs to limit Curry to 32 minutes and give Lee 30 minutes a game. This team can win if IT is willing to sit the guys that don't play smart basketball. Collins should also get some burn.

How lame. The guy is too busy trying to be everyone's friend than their coach. He needs to stop living vicariously through the players, realize that he's retired and that his job is to help them win, not buddy up for drinking night.

This is why Nichols isn't on the team. He couldn't be bothered to cut his friends from the team.

Being a coach is like being a parent. Your job is not to make sure everybody feels good or be any body's friend, but to make sure you get the most out of their potential.

The only difference between being a coach and a parent you can boot the pain in the asses out the door without worrying about Child Services looking for you.

Not to mention being able to trade your expiring contract children for children with max contracts... to further your analogy.

"smart basketball" is played when coach has game plan and players are executing it.
I don't think we have any game plan in place and we do not have many players who can execute anything.
At least they never show they can.
Isiah and his players are at the same page in playing intuitive basketball which is exiting (of chaotic if you are realist) but always losing against any well organized team.

That's like trading a kid about to get out of college and a real job so you don't got to pay for them anymore for a 3 year old with a lifetime of fees ahead of you. Who the hell would want to do that?!? It's just bad business!

That is our other problem. We need a better game plan, but even more problematic is that our players cannot run the game plan that we do have. Too many turnovers and lapses on defense. Even with the current game plan, if it were better executed, this team should be a .500 team.
