wait- I thought the issue with Butler was Isiah said 'financial constraint' as the reason for not giving jackie a contract, but he then went out and maxed out Jeffies on an MLE?
Then, the argument is less about Jackie over JJ1, and more about Jackie over JJ2 & his MLE deal.
Jackie could weigh 500lbs and I'd still make that 'trade'

Once a small-time guy makes the NBA in NY, EVERYTHING ELSE BECOMES MOOT.
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

Jackie played some nice ball here. That is why he is overrated.
Isiah had no idea jackie would be as good as he was, but we all knew JJ1 Was a mistake even before he signed him. Too bad Isiah is not as confident in some of his picks. The problem is he had to WIN NOW!!!!! and he needed JJ1's experience and he was pegged to be our starter.
Problem is the slob is so fragile and out of shape he can't even stay on the bench as a scrub without getting hurt in practice!

I still would much rather have kept Jackie for similar reasons as a couple other people. He was lazy and out of shape but at least we weren't paying him 75 million to sit and crack jokes on the bench.
