if dolan wants to win he should throw a lot of money at jerry colangelo in phoenix. he has put kerr in position as GM to succeed him and has built that team. he doesn't like sarver and can't spend any money, which would be the absolute opposite situation at MSG. the question is would he come to this mess?

i like herb as coach though.

I don't give a #$@* who it is (well, yes I do). I just want someone who can inject some movement and excitement into our stagnant and predictable offensive sets. We need an offensive genius to cover our defensive lapses. Phoenix, Denver and others have terrible defense so they run crazy/fast offensive sets at you, if you can't adjust, you get beat.
We do have the personnel to do it, it just isn't the starting unit. Our bench gets us back into most games because that's the way they play.

There are a lot of choices out there, but I have a gut feeling Isiah is gonna find a way to keep his job this year. The Knicks win 44 games and make the playoffs thats reaon enough to keep him around.

It's not gonna make a difference if Isiah's fired as long the same corporation looking for instant profits is running the team. We're gonna suck at least until Dolan dies.

No we can not say Indiana all over again. In Indiana, Isiah was not the GM. In Indiana, Isiah was given Jermaine ONeal, Ron Artest, Reggie Miller, Jalen Rose in his prime, Brad Miller, Al Harrington, and a point guard not named Starbury. In NY, if Isiah leaves today, he will leave a DISASTER. Curry, Randolph, Crawful, Marbury?!?!?!? And you want to compare us to those Pacer teams?!?!?!? Even our youngin's are ONE-DIMENTIONAL complimentary role players.

And I don't want Grunwald. He should have told Isiah the pairing of Zach Randolph and Eddy Curry would be a recipe for disaster. We need to start fresh and CLEAN HOUSE. Get rid of all the veterans and if we have to package some of the youngin's in order to dump these flawed vets, then so be it. There isn't a single person on this roster I wouldn't trade in order to completely rebuild. Not like we're be getting rid of Kobe, Lebron or Wade. I love Balkman and Lee, but I'd dump them in a heartbeat if it meant no Isiah, no Marbury, no Randolph, no Curry, and no Crawful. Who the hell builds their team around those 4????????????????????? God damn nightmare. Thanks Jimmy!

Anthony is a very savvy individual. I usually agree with most of his basketball opinions. Everything he has said about Isiah and the players he traded for or signed has been accurate.

Seems to have a good business mind aswell. Not sure why, but something about Wall-street keeps popping up in my mind when I think of Anthony. Not sure if he worked there breifly or what. But he would be a good candidate for the GM position.

That is an awful idea.

Ewwww Greg Anthony. Way too opinionated, always angry, and probably would never listen to his scouts. Also he would constantly be fighting with the NY media. There is only one person capable of this monumental job rebuilding the ENTIRE Knicks franchise and he is Jerry Colangelo. Greg Anthony has never run a basketball team and you want him thrown in the pressure cooker of NYC and deal with the DISASTER Isiah has left behind? Are you crazy?

Key word...probably. Hard to get a real feel for a persons personality when there job is to be (lets face it) an entertainer. Greg on Camera is perhaps a lot different than Greg off camera. Perfect example look at Isiah. He's a charmer in front of a mic and on camera but some things have come out about him off the camera that isn't so appealing.

If Jerry Colangelo is the only one capable of pulling us out of this mess in your humble opinion, if he turns us down, where do we turn? BTW, there are GM's and execs in this league besides Colangelo that rebuilt teams and led them to the upper echelon of the league and have won championships since he first took over the Suns. The game of basketball doesn't begin nor end with him.

I met greg in a club in manhatten when he was with portland, it was greg, sheed, pipen, and dale davis.
My friend appraoch him(half drunk) grab him by the shoulders (almost like a hugging tpye of way) and scream "GREG YOUR BACK IN NY" Im surprise greg didn't just hand over his wallet, dude was shook. After a few minutes he relax we kick it for a minute and he moved on. But i got the impression he would not be taking serious past the high school level as far as coaching.

Bonn - that is about as mean-spirited as it gets. No one who is simply involved in an entertainment industry deserves such an insult. Dolan may be whatever level of incompetent or insincere executive, but does he really deserve that?

c'mon. it's only basketball

The vultures are way past circling The Garden. They are receiving directions from the control tower for their final approaches.

With the apparent reportage over Isiah's sour disposition and the invitation of Vivian Stringer into the dogpile, it would seem the clock is ticking louder than ever. Dolan is hearing footsteps in the dark. Is Daddy Sir Charles coming down the hall?

The "unmitigated disaster" Jeffries, another Isiah mistake, goes down for 2-3 weeks, if not longer. The Knicks will certainly start the season under .500 as Curry and Zach bump heads in Cleveland and knock the other unconscious. Now. with that said, the Head Coach position, as well as assistants will need to be filled in mid-stream. There are tickets to be sold and image to repair. Dolan needs an ambassador, a healer, a tactician and a winner. So the question remains:

who got next?

Very good and well said. And please, whoever is pushing for Herb' please throw the bumb out! He's another useless ****! We need a seperate President, GM & Coach. That's three positions that can be taken by individuals who are more than capable. There is plenty of talented business & basketball folks out there. It was a horrible mistake to hand all three to one individual. It's a disaster! This organization needs to clean house and it needs people to come in and put this team back on the map. Out with the old names and in with some new. Preferably people who are dedicated and have no history with the Knicks. We need change. Isiah and company have failed miserably!!! No more status quo bull**** either. The Knicks organization is a basketball team. Not a relief center or platform for social change. Whoever it is, it has to be people who are 'professional.' Period!
I'll never trust this' team again.

I think its Herb Williams on an interim basis. He's demonstrated a degree of loyalty unheard of in the NBA.

He also didn't do poorly.

And he's got a great image and great relationships with most of the NBA, unlike Isiah 'burn the bridges' Thomas.

Screw loyaty! Look where it's got us? And he had to have done great. Screw this mediocre crap.
I'll never trust this' team again.

4949 - you haven't mentioned a single name. The cleaning house comment is a cop out.

what exactly is the criteria and who is on the (preferably available) short list?
