2nd quarter-started with the Randolph, Jones, Lee, Crawford and Nate. Down 10
At the 9:52 mark Nate was subbed out and Marbs was put back in. So far probably not much different than what will happen in the regular season. Offense is sloppy but that's fine in the pre-season. Defense is ridiculous. Every shot the Celtics take is an unchallenged lay-up or a jumper without a man within 10 feet of the shooter. 8:11 mark Mardy subs for Fred Jones. Down 12. Still no defense. Jones was the only guy playing D. Curry back in for DLee.
That's why we need to keep Jones.
Oh really? Ok, lets examine this game for a second.
The ending score was 101-61. 101 points is a common score for this Celtics team and really a whole bunch of other teams, especially in preseason. 61 points is not. Absolutely we could have played more defense, but our OFFENSE let us down.
How much did Mr. Fred Jones contribute to our offense? Whats that? What did you say, he's there for defense? Oh, ok and how much impact did he have on the game last night? Oh, not much because the Celtics managed to score 101 points.
Jamal Crawford, Allan Houston, Stephon Marbury, Quentin Richardson, and Nate Robinson were all ineffective from the outside. Oh, if only we had someone who could hit 3's consistently and no, i'm not talking about Fred "34.1%" Jones.

Thanks for your astute observation. No one is saying that offense wasn't a problem. It obviously was. Thanks for the newsflash. But I don't have a huge concern for that for a couple reasons. Number one we have a new focal point which always needs an adjustment. Number 2, we have a history of being a solid offensive team and with the addition of Zach I don't see that changing.
The defense HAS ALWAYS BEEN AN ISSUE. We have a history of not giving our best effort on D. Now if you watched the game and are not just going by score you would have seen the parade to the rim and would have a different opinion of the D(hopefully). We didn't play any. It was dunk after dunk, after lay-up, after wide open jumper. We were consistently beaten in transition. The defense was horrendous. The only thing that kept the score our of the 120's was the pace of the game.
