3 Spot

The beauty of a game like last night is that it opens opportunity for the younger players to step in and step up.

Would you agree that Chandler deserves a longer look at the three?

Speaking of Jerome James

October 18, 2007 -- BOSTON - Jerome James' right-knee injury is more serious than the Knicks have let on - and could force him to have season-ending surgery. James told The Post last night the "hardware" in his knee from a 1999 reconstructive surgery to repair a torn ACL is being rejected by his body, causing massive swelling and fluid to build up.

Randolph Morris was 2-2 from the field.

Two Guys

Wilson Chandler grabbed 7 boards and blocked 3 shots in less than 15 minutes.
David Lee, 7 points, had eight rebounds in under 17 minutes, 4 offensive

Frankenstein

Eddy Curry and Zach Randolph started their second consecutive game together, with moderately better results. Curry finished with 23 points and went 9 for 13 from the field. Randolph had 8 points and 9 rebounds and shot 3 for 9.

Oct 19

Knick center Jerome James and Thomas both confirmed James needs surgery on his left knee.

- NYPost

Respectfully submitted to continue the gradual coherance (or chaos) and evaluation of the Eddy Curry/Zach Randolph frontcourt.

As it appears surgery is inevitable for James, does David Lee or Randolph Morris pick up minutes at backup center?

Chandler looks good, earl. Athletic, active on both ends of the court, and appears to have a better stroke than Balkman. He was the bright light of last night's game.

Prez - in your opinion, how far away is Chandler from competing at an NBA level for - say - 25 minutes a night?

It depends.
If IT will go and team will be blowed away, Chan has chance to shine right away.
If we will stay put with Isiah and his scrub-stars collection, Chan will need 1-2 years to develop or can end up with other team.

I have only seen him play twice now. He's definitely a guy that can be a part of a rotation soon from what I've seen. But I will reserve judgement until I see more of him.

"The Congressman" and "the Tax Assessor need to pick up their games, they are being shown up by "the Mayor". I can't have that.

Meanwhile, back in the jungle... and speaking of raising the curtain on a new season:

The Knicks report a 91-percent renewal rate on season tickets, a strong number and significantly higher than last October. The deadline for renewals was June 21 - well before the Sept. 10 trial date and Oct. 2 verdict in which the Garden and Thomas was found liable for sexual harassment following a salacious three-week, front-page trial.

Last year, season-ticket sales were down a whopping 20 percent, stemming from the 23-59 disaster and Larry Brown fiasco. The Knicks, however, went on to sell out 17 of their last 20 games and finish eighth in average attendance (18,805).

To me this means that they are even lower than last year, if they renewed 90%.
Unless they had a surge of new subscriptions, which I doubt.

Those season ticket figures are difficult to interpret. 91% renewal rate after a 20% decline the previous year. Does that mean even less season ticket holders this year than last?

Hard to tell if you don't know how many new season ticket holders signed up.

It means there was a 20% decrease after the 06 season and a 9% decrease after the 07 season.

For example, let's say MSG was 100% full. A 20% decrease would make it 80% full. A 9% decrease after that would make it about 73% full. That's not something to brag about.

Numbers are fun.

Sheesh, what idiot posted this lame attempt at misinformation?

Indeed

Just so you guys know...season ticket renewals are not the same as season ticket sales.

So no, the 20% decrease is not equivalent to the 9% decrease.

Reading is fun.

Tell the Knicks that. They're the ones putting this stuff out.
